Yesterday at the governorship and house of representatives elections, wife of Bola Tinubu, the All Progressive Congress, APC chairman, Senator Remi Tinubu, was involved in a banter with Igbo voters at the polling unit in Lagos state. In her words, “Igbos we no dey trust una again”.

However, many reactions have been trailing her statement with many alleging that her utterance was a clear indication of the hatred she and her husband have for the Igbo. In a comment made by former aid to former president Goodluck Jonathan, and writer, Reno Omokri, he was also of the opinion that her statement was geared towards a hatred for the Igbos. He wrote as he shared the video:

“Watch Senator Remi Tinubu day “Igbo, we no dey trust una again”! So the Tinubu clan only trust Igbos if they vote Nuhari? Why are we a democracy? Tinubu and his family should just crown Buhari king of Nigeria. Igbos create wealth and value and pay their taxes. But that is not enough. Unless they vote as Tinubu wants, they can’t be trusted!”

However, the APC said that Senator Remi Tinubu was merely joking as she made the statement but Reno has refused to accept their claim. He said:

“The APC now says Senator Remi Tinubu was joking when she said ‘we don’t trust Igbos again’. My response is that people say the truth in jest. Out of the fullness of the heart, the mouth speaks. Remi only said what she and her husband believe. The treatment meted out to the Igbo in Lagos this election cycle is proof of this. The right thing left to do is apologise and rid themselves of their Igbo phobia”

But a certain APC supporter took to her Twitter to mock the former aid with PDP’s loss in Lagos but she failed to watch her grammar. According to her, “Calm down uncle Jimi lossing already.”

This brought a hash reply from Reno as he perfectly put the lady in her right place. He replied her, “Leave Jimi for a second and face your grammar. Jimi may be losing, but you are ‘lossing’ me with this your English. Such a great disappointment that your parents paid good money for your education only to ‘lossing’ it like this. What a pity”
