ABUJA – Following the declaration by the
Independent National Electoral
Commission, INEC, to resume collation of
results in the Rivers state governorship
election which held recently, the Peoples
Democratic Party, PDP, has expressed
optimism that it will continue to preside
over the affairs of the state after the
exercise.

This is even as the party tasked the
electoral umpire not to take people of
the oil-rich state for granted, stressing
that they had already voted for the PDP
governorship candidate, Nyesom Wike in
the March 9 election.
Speaking exclusively with Sunday
Vanguard yesterday, National Publicity
Secretary of the party, Kola
Ologbondiyan, said from the results
already collated, Wike has won, even as
he warned against tampering with the
will of the people.
He said, “We are waiting for INEC to
announce winner of the election in
Rivers. This is the same election that has
already produced state lawmakers. We
don’t know why the governorship poll
has suddenly become difficult for them
to do.
“From the results already collated, our
candidate is clearly ahead. So, we call on
the umpire to its job and announce the
winner without further delay.
On supplementary governorship elections
slated for March 23, the publicity scribe
added that the stand of the party remain
that its candidates in the affected states
should be declare winners, having
harnessed more votes than their
counterparts on the first ballot.
“We showed our strength in Adamawa,
Benue, Plateau, Sokoto, Bauchi and
Nasarawa states and we reiterate the fact
that our popularity with the people is the
reason they gave their mandate to our
governorship candidates in these states.
“The people are waiting anxiously for
INEC to do the needful. The electorate in
these states know their rights and they
are not prepared to be shortchanged. The
earlier those who think they are too
powerful to the right thing realise this,
the better it will be for us all,” he
added.

PDP cleared the whole ward 5... Even apc/aac agents worked in favour of PDP. They said apc didn't pay them before, during and after the presidential elections.
