Maybe, you did not read the thread.

There no top three ranking of Nigerian universities without UNN in it.

And UNN is not in the south west.

What is the justification for ABU receiving more funding than UI and UNN? Both universities seem to be doing better when you consider their THE/QS rankings.
Imo, if the FG gives some of these unis more autonomy they will perform even better but certain things have to be addressed first.
They have autonomy already but prefer looting with it and victimizing students.

How many students are on scholarship in Oyedepo’s university?
How much is their scholarship
Since you dragged Harvard into the matter, how does Oyedepo’s university compare on scholarship with Harvard?
How many is on scholarship in Harvard you know of?

Fake news, fake research on research output published in a fake journal of civil engineering based in Iraq (of all places in the world). Now see the list of authors: from LAUTECH and CU and they are praising their own universities. Lol

Due to lack of actual research these fake professors of Political Science, Chemistry and Engineering in Lautech and CU are cutting and pasting information on research output to a fake journal. What is the relevance to their areas of expertise? Nada! Waste of time and money conducting data collection on Scopus

You want to assess research output and you are using only one database -Scopus? What happened to other databases such as Web of Science, PUBMED, Academia, Frontier, Loop, etc)?

You can guess that the OP is one of the authors of this fake publication.

Well i think each school need to start making atleast one publication in scopus a requirement for post graduate graduation.

Here in Malaysia, you must have at least 1 scopus publications and my supervisor want 2 q1s and 2 peered review papers.
May God help me.

SCOPUS is not a journal. You cannot publish in it. SCOPUS is an indexing and abstracting database that collects and stores information on research publications Na wao!!

Even with the Op’s lies/semi-illiteracy, whichever the case is, covenant cannot even come within a mile of UI’s reach.

Covenant was founded in 2002 and by 2017, had recorded about 550 pubs (according to the Op).

That’s an average of about 36 pubs annually.

However, the Op posits that the output from covenant hit 1100 by 2018 making the output for the period 2017-2018 at least equal to the cumulative output of the school from its inception in 2002 to 2017!

I probably don’t have a good understanding about these things but these figures look heavily skewed.

Am not saying scopus is a journal but we have affiliated journals with scopus and they are grouped into q1,q2,q3 and q4. Similarly as we have in WOS with impact index.

Well, I'm sure you know the answer it is nepotism. ABU despite being the most funded university in Nigeria is the worst performing among the first generation universities. It is the only first generation university without presence on the Times Higher Education Ranking. It is really a pity.

Everything the researchers wrote about are readily accessible on Scopus itself. Scopus and web of science are the most cited indexing platforms.

Nothing skewed, the data is on Scopus platform for all to see. CU is increasing her funding at a very high rate.

passing waec doesn't mean south east are ahead in education. at the end of the day south west has more professors and reach greater peaks in education which just passing waec alone can't change

What do you expect from a society where schools trying to enforce rules are tagged as glorified secondary schools and waywardness in another schools is taken as a sign of maturity and labour market advantage?

The professor couldn't conduct a free and fair election because all the academics under govt payroll who foresaw the imminent rigging exercise couldn't afford to risk their source of livelihood.

What “rules” are they trying to enforce? How people should dress or wear their hairstyles?

While Scopus is a way of measuring research impact, it is pertinent to highlight that many Scopus indexed journals are not ISI indexed.

A better research approach will be to measure the cumulative impact factor and citation index for each university. This way you get to know which universities are doing actual research that is globally recognised.

In the days when predatory journals are now being Scopus indexed, IF (Thompson Reuters) is one way to distinguish publications based on rigour (not fully bullet proof I must concede).

Alternatively, what classes of journals (Q1-Q4) or the ABS ranking for business schools (1* - 4*) do these publications belong to.

You have a nice write up, but if HEI's in the UK are being funded strictly based on 3*-4* journals, talking Scopus in 2019 may not be ideal.

If the argument that we must start somewhere should somehow pop up, I'd argue that such proposition is untenable considering the brilliant performances of HEI's across Africa (excluding Nigeria).
