A Court in Yenagoa on Monday has granted Jones Abiri, a Bayelsa-based journalist and publisher who was rearrested on Saturday by officers of the Department of State Services (DSS).

According to his lawyers, Sam Ogala who represented Abiri at the hearing today said he couldn't figure out why Abiri was rearrested

Abiri, publisher of the Weekly Source, a newspaper based in Yenagoa, Bayelsa state, was arrested in 2016 for allegedly being the leader of the joint revolutionary council of the Joint Niger Delta Liberation Force, a separatist group.

Jones Abiri, who was rearrested on Saturday by officers of the Department of State Services (DSS), was charged with treasonable felony.

criminal? Yet the government that arrested him could not find him guilty? Are you unaware of the bad treatment of some journalist in past four years?

common sense is really not common, if I talk now dem go say I don talk too much. You call an innocent man a criminal just because of crumbs you feed from your masters tables, I pity you honestly. A man who stayed years in jail without cause and the courts asked DSS to pay him damages for wrongful detention. You're a very wicked human being I swear, please don't visit this wickedness on your wife and children biko cool
