First of all, truth is bitter they say. People should stop attacking the messenger and ponder on what FFK said. It may seem useless but out of 100 words said by a mad man, there's always an iota of truth. The greatest mistake made by Tinubu ahead of the 2015 elections was the alliance the then ACN formed with the north . Historically, the north had always been rolling their shows and prevailing over leadership matters by using the southern leaders to achieve their aims.

The re-branding of Buhari was done both by Tinubu and Obasanjo for their selfish reasons. Governor kayode fayemi in his usual habit of eloquent speech writing, prepared the speech read by Buhari in Chatham house UK, ahead of the 2015 elections in which he called himself a one time military dictator but now a reformed Democrat, the statement which changed the minds of the west and their opinions about Buhari's bad days. Obj was instrumental in the waiver of the Visa ban on Buhari by the UK and USA while Tinubu played a great role in the rebranding.
Tinubu presented his private jet and they were flying Buhari all over the country during which his image was being redeemed. Buhari was always sitting back while they campaigned for him, not knowing he had his plans.

To the southerners who are following the north castigate onnoghen, you're the most un-informed of all humans on earth. Una eyes go soon clear. Somebody was deliberately removed and forced to resign in the past week and most of you were accusing him of an offence he never committed. The north sponsored the CCT/CCB and the likes against onnoghen and you were hailing them. I feel so sorry for you guys. The said undeclared money and assets were not found. The one found undeclared was a loan from a major bank as confirmed and after he was ridiculed, the EFCC and the fed govt withdrew the case, leaving the CCT in the act. What they did to Awolowo hasn't taught us a lesson or does it mean most of those living now were not born at that time or they don't read the book of history?

Shortly after the 2015 elections, Tinubu was barred by the northern politicians from entering aso villa and his wife oluremi cried out. That was a tip of the iceberg. Not only would she protest this time but would scream. The north have rendered all southern politicians useless and we still throw our wits behind them. What Babachir Lawal and Junaid said in the past week was just the beginning. It shouldn't be overlooked, just like that.

Before end of 2020, there would be political regrouping in the north. They'd form a new party like they did ANPP, CPC and now APC. The party would produce the presidential candidate ahead of 2023. They'd say the zoning formula was the APC's thing. Eventually, they'd all dump the apc. And once this happens, they'd rush down south and begin their bidding as usual. They'd promise heaven and earth and use all manners of influences, including religion, even appoint one of us to a key position in the new party and make one of us a running mate with a northern presidential candidate. The north looks divided and uninformed but they're more United when it comes to decisions that affect all of them. Junaid said in the past week that they don't talk too much and that's the plain truth. They don't talk much but what they'd do is inside of them.

Before now, the north used to boast that without them, no presidential candidate from another region would succeed but they were proven wrong by the outcome of the 2011 elections where the entire south and the middle belt voted en mass for Jonathan, but the guy messed up big time. The outcome of the elections angered the north a great deal and it put their boasting to shame.

I'm not against the north so nobody should cast aspersions on me. What is sauce for the goods is sauce for the gander. The greatest loser in the last election isn't the pdp nor other political parties but the entire south. The 2 presidential candidates were northerners and of the same tribe and we voted them massively as if they were from amongst us. Can the north ever accept such an arrangement from another tribe in Nigeria or vote so massively the way we did? It's a question everybody from the south should ponder on. They call your leaders names and you clap for them. Meanwhile they don't do that amongst themselves. They dont expose themselves. Elrufai who was said to have shut the doors at VP osinbajo at FEC meetings in the vila on a couple of times should be in prison in a sane society by now for his misconduct as FCT minister and BPE chair who sat on the sale of our critical assets. Has anything been said of him? What about the reinstated pension boss in person of Alhaji Maina?

It's high time we southerners became wise and stop being stooges to the north. A word is enough for the wise.

In 1999 Obasanjo of PDP defeated other Southerners like Ekwueme, Etiebet, Ebitimi Banigo, etc, to be PDP Presidential candidate, while Olu Falae of AD was the Presidential candidate of an AD/APP alliance.

The North came out to vote massively then, even when they were only going to serve under Yoruba leadership.

In 1993, the people of Kano voted for MKO Abiola over their own son Bashir Tofa, at a time the miserable talkatives who now lament about a broken Southern unity, opted to vote for a Northern Fulani Muslim over their fellow Southerner.

With tribalism the south will always be their own greatest enemies,

We all read it here on this forum, Yoruba's said they can never vote for Igbo presidency but they want Igbo's to vote for them,

Unfortunately, the damage has ben done so the North can continue ruling

So if the north betrays you at this stage you just have to count your loses

I want to say that you have a massive piece here that is devoid of ethnic rivalry which makes the whole writeup a good read. I think it's too early for anyone to begin to cast aspersions on the flow of the political tides of the country, especially when less than credible figures in the country make stupid statements that we all know a more of personal perspective than general views.

As much as I hate the ruling party and their major opposition to the core of my marrow, I know both parties have nothing to offer Nigerians. So I do not think Tinubu made any mistake in aligning with the North to wrestle powers from the then ruling party, PDP.

Pdp ruled for 16 years and there was nothing done than enrichment of some certain few.

Don't worry. Fashola of APC is coming in 2023. The whole south shall unite behind him. The north does not own Nigeria like PDP thinks. The north needs the genuine support of the south or at least one section of it for this country to remain in existence. They can't afford to become enemies with the entire south.

You are so right but you have unfortunately carpeted the reasons behind those arrangements. The south felt cheated by rubbing their son abiola of his mandate by the same northern leaders, led by babangida, the then military president , the decision which eventually led to the death of mko abiola. The north were busy shopping for the candidate from the south west to pacify the region as yoruba was hell bent on power shift to the south. That was the reason they came for obadanjo. They tried he didn't come back for the second time by using all manners of political and religious tools against him but they failed. Obj ran to the south west and begged the political leaders not to field a candidate but adopt him as their consensus candidate, foreseeing that the north wouldn't vote him, which actually happened. He didn't get the number of votes he got the first time in his come back. Thanks to the alliance with the south west . I can never forget sharia in a hurry, which obj said would die a natural death. They sponsored the speaker of that time ghali Umar na'aba against him and yerima the then governor of zamfara who put the sharia on his head.

In 1993 you said? Yea, I was an undergraduate that time and I was so conscious of what happened as I participated in the elections of the SDP vs NRC. Abiola wouldn't ha lve been so supported without 2 reasons, that he was a Muslim and also that another Muslim from the north was his running mate. People were just tired of the military that time.

We have moved on since that time and are more matured in democracy.

Since democracy returned to Nigeria in 1999, south already had 8 good years while north is currently on 6 years +.

By the time Buhari completed his term, it should be 10 years.

Power is returning back to the South in 2023. Those who are projecting powers to the north do not even have stakes with their parties

There is nothing like 'South' with the garrulous under-achievers who are dreaming of 2023 Presidency in it

These same folks played their serpentary neither-here-nor--there wayo game to the displeasure of Northerners who almost single-handedly rigged and voted for Buhari to win in 2019...Some Northerners noted the 'betrayal' and pledged to pay these people back in 2023..

Alas these same empty-heads have gone into an over-drive of delusions that the North 'are not power hungry and would leave their fellow Northerners and vote them"..

Their latest comedy of errors is using the 1993 template to argue on how they will coast to victory in 2023 regardless of every indication from the North contrary to that..

Laughable.

Things have fallen apart and the center cannot hold, mere anarchy is loosed upon the south.

Southern political unity is simply a mere illusion, achieving that is almost a herculean task.

The north are and will always be on the advantage capitalizing squarely on the southern political dichotomy which they brought upon themselves by engaging in unnecessary and unhealthy competition.

They(north) will always use that as a great advantage to perpetually lord over the south.

High time we come together down here if we truly want a power shift down south.

How do we achieve this, considering how events have unfolded since the return of present democratic era the SE has always been shortchanged in favoring other southern regions, they've always been instrumental in the emergence of any southern president, Obasanjo and Jonathan presidency wouldn't have been a success without the support of the SE.

It is therefore pertinent to ask for a due return of favour by both SS and SW to the SE as a way to bridge the gap of unity in southern Nigeria, it is long overdue and high time the very needful be attended to.

Any attempt of the SW to usurp power to the detriment of SE using the propagation of united southern Nigeria will be fiercely resisted.

If power must return anytime soon to the south it must be to the SE if not, we will have no choice but to stick still to the status quo. The betrayal continues to the detriment of the entire south and to the benefit and advantage of the north.

Party Democracy have not been with Nigeria for long. Every Geo-political zone in Nigeria can produce a candidate that can win a Presidential election.

I don't lose sleep over this at all.

May I ask you a simple question or a couple of questions;

Did Obasanjo get a block vote during his two tenures from the SE and can the same be said of the SW? Same goes to Jonathan too.

Can you conveniently said that any region in the country can single handedly determine or influence the emergence of a president in Nigeria? Can the SW do that?

What really matters is to whom did the majority votes go to, argue objectively and shun myopic and sentimental view to political issues.

The truth is, the SW has never given anybody 85% of their votes ever since the return of democracy, sitting on the fence is never an expression of playing smart politics, it's only making the obvious hypocrisy known to all and sundry who are involved and further hindering the trust and confidence of others on the SW.

So Yoruba in the person of Tinubu is marketable? Grow up.

It seems as if Igbo is not marketable because of the betrayal they've suffered from the Yoruba and it seems that Yoruba is marketable because of the strong support it enjoyed from the SE/SS which is majorly Igbo (talking about Obasanjo democratic regime).

Talking of low voting pattern of the SE is indeed stating the obvious and it is caused by the voting apathy in the region because of IPOB issue and not because of the lack of numerical strength. Let that fact be established.

This time, your presumed political smartness will turn to hunt you acrimoniously cos you can't eat your cake and have it.
