Abacha's recovered loot recently was supposed to have been channeled into Health Care improvement. Into at the minimum, all the General Hospitals existing in all Local Government head quarters in Nigeria - This will could have far reaching impact on the masses in terms of health care improvement. No!!! they rather deceived PMB into white elephant projects of sharing the money among "Nigerian Poor" who has the data of Nigerian poor? In Nigeria, the poorest people are our politicians and ruling class, they are suffering from "poverty of the state of mind" that is why one person will steal 100 billion and yet will not be satisfied.
That money would have impacted positively if it were shared among all General Hospitals and set up a committee to monitor the expenses and procurement of medical equipment.

NaijaCelebrity:
The National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) has declared a state of public health concern on maternal newborn and child death occurring at the primary health centres.

Similar declaration is expected in states in the next few days to track maternal and child mortality.

Nigeria has one of the worst records in maternal and child mortality in the world. It is recorded that in Nigeria approximately 145 women under the age of 15-45 die from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth while 2300 children under five years old die mainly from preventable causes.

Consequently, the agency said it will establish a national coordination centre within the agency to provide oversight on the outlined activities.

The centre, according to the Executive Director of the agency, Dr. Fasal Shuaib shall be called the National Emergency Maternal and Child Health Intervention Centre. (NEMCHIC). Already, the country has received support worth $1.3l million which is to be matched by the government $1.97 million for the next ten years. This fund is to support the country’s immunization programme as part of the effort to reduce maternal and child mortality in Nigeria.

The states also assured of their buy-in to ensure that the initiative achieves its purpose.

$1.97m in TEN YEARS for an Health Emergency that has basically turned into an epidemic?! $197,000 a year for 70-80m potential mothers while your Senators earn close to double that amount every month and 10m Nigerians have not stormed and overran the National Assembly?

I swear you fools deserve to die like chickens because you’re all a bunch of bloody cowards.
