That's why other countries have free trade deal.

As regards the oyel, make them leave am for them. Make everybody go find him own. Or look for a way to make a deal with the Niger Delta or something.

We're too intertwined and very much in each others business that it's futile for any group to attempt secession. Even if oil dries up, we'd still be together.

Apapa sea port is not the only sea port in Nigeria. Many other states has access to Atlantic oceanic so, don't even go there.

Two factors why you are wrong ;

Only Onne port can accomodate large vessel and all its terminal are busy with crude oil activity,

No shipping line would go through the dangerous southsouth gulf due to militancy, piracy, kidnaping and all

So Only Apapa, Cameroun or Cotonou is actually accesible. Other ports are just kangaroos

Its not that simple, oil contribute 70% of our national income, take out oil federal allocation giving to states and local goverment. All sector of nigeria would instantly colapse.

Without Crude oil sale, we shall buy petrol for 250 as there wont be money to subsidise it

Public University would start paying minimum of 500k as their wont be money from abuja to pay lecturers and professors.

Health care system would be unaffordable to many as doctors and nurses get paid from abuja fund from crude oil sales

Vat and tax would increase by atleast 40%, cost of electricity would instantly increase same as house rent as we shall have to pay land use tax to the goverment.

And lastly, do you know why Nigerians turn to life of crime when they migrate to non oil economic country? Because they suddenly realise that bills over there is 1000% higher than what we pay in nigeria and still grumble

Shipping line goes through that route but they are just being abandoned.
Should South West be on their own other seaports will be developed.
Onne as you know is far bigger than any other seaport in Nigeria.
Militancy and pirates... Please!
How long will it take a serious government to round those miscreants up and put them to their positions?

I never disputed shiping line not going through there, but you can check the price comparison online. What would arrive lagos for $1k to $1k5 routing it over there would cost you $3k for same cubic size of container. So it is been abandoned for lagos by your own people

You talked about militancy and piracy like its a childs play and i laugh. Nigerian pirate are more brutal than somalian pirate just that the goverment under report the activities since no media coverage along our water ways

Honestly SouthWest isn't stoping anyone from haviing their own seaport infact we are building a second one in ibeju lekki and we are looking for partners for ondo ppp port. And edo and akwa ibom are doing the same

Oil money from the Niger Delta, remove the oil the country will scatter.

Nice analysis, but before the oyel are people not surviving?

FYI I have nothing against the oil.

I really don't see the need for this long note, minus unnecessary attention seeking everybody knows there are several alternatives to SW seaports and it is not remotely the reason Nigeria is together.
There are too many alternatives to Lagos seaports and they will not be missed.

Minus oil in Niger Delta Nigeria as a country could have been a long story.

Exactly, and by then I don't think they would want to sabotage their community. They won't have any form of sympathy from anywhere.

To you it might be long note and unnecesary attention seeking, to me its just a normal intelectual national discuss. Let apapa close for only a week, then we know who suffers most since we have alternative land borders that some dont have

Before the oil, we were unconcious of our true poor state. We have millions roaming almajiri without education, back then almajiri were so much that it seems very ok.

Many would consider themselves sucessfull with lots of wives owning an hecter of land inherited from their fathers and tons of kids..

The whites pay anything they like for our farm produce and resources, yet we were very comfortable with it since we are ignorant of the good life they enjoy from our labour.

We trek about for kilometers thinkkng its normal since there were few cars. Then a single school serves a region like southwest since mamy dont value education

So do you truly think we can go back to the dark days after tasting the comfort of oil money

Okay I get your point.

Hence why we are trying to diversify from oyel.
The Igbo believe they could succeed without oil, why don't they allow them first (at least the country would have less mouth to feed). Abi the Igbo one go with the Nigeria Delta ne? If not, why can't they allow them to get what they want?

Sad reality is that country can only break up and be recognized as indepent only after a "REFERENDUM" unfurtunately Zik of africa in his wisdom ask for the exclussion of a referendum clause in our first constituition.

So in other to include it back, ekweremadu or albariba or any high ranking igbo lawmaking representative must sponsor a bill tagged 2019 referendum constituitional amendment. Any region lawmaker that rejects it during first and second reading is the real coward scared of a breakup. As soon as its signed into law when passed then the presidency sets a date and protocols to follow and we can negotiate our split like brexit and other civilised people.

Okay, that why they are asking for referendum. Understood, thanks for your time.

But lastly any hope that someone would sponsor the bill soon?

Using northern cameroon, brexit and cantolinia/spain as case study.

Seccesionist Social influencers like Nnamdi kanu most team up with constitiutional lawyers to map out a plan to put pressure on the overly paid lawmakers, so they can truly back their secionist citizen they represent. This might take a while but its better than the military martial law approach
