Instead of bayelsa youth and niger deltan general to hold their leaders responsible for their problem they will be blowing pipe line and thinking they are punishing FG.

Pdp keep invented bad things to this country. Ask them when the bill was read to the house and when was the bill pass on the second reading before it was signed into law.

Its a welcome development.

100k is understandable for the members but 500k for speaker is too much. At least 350 would have been OK.

Do you really know what you just supported at all?
>26 members every 4 or 8 years!
>Starting from the time when Bayelsa state was part of the old Rivers state!
>This pension will be for life! Even when civil servants who served for 35 years are now being placed on contributory pension which is not for life anymore!
>How many lawmakers Bayelsa state will have produced over a period of 50 to 100 years?
>Even without this, with just 8 local governments and small population, Dickson was still owing workers their salaries. This state will die of debt, surely.
>These people are already rich and I hope you know that.

Umh!
Two key people are killing this country, one, the politicians, two, the so-called men of God. The type of lifestyle they're living is not encouraging at all. Selfless service to humanity is out of their own dictionary. The funny thing is, the followers still help them to do whatever they like and they hail them to high heavens.
God send your wrath upon the enemies of this nation.

Collecting N100,000 monthly without doing nothing while civil servants sweat out their lives and meager salary not paid. We're not talking of their salary but monthly pension after retirement aside their severance allowance which constitution empowered to be paid to them.
These people are even afraid of life after politics, they're now mortgaging the lives of the led.
Of what use is politician collecting pension pay while people that have worked for over 30 to 40 years are collecting contributory pension, that are sometime not up to 50 thousand monthly depending on the level.
The act is satanic and devilish.

Bayelsa House of Assembly on Wednesday approved monthly pensions to speakers, deputy speakers and other members of assembly.

The bill sponsored by the leader of the House, Peter Akpe, which was passed on the floor of the House, approved N500,000 post service monthly pension to the speakers of the assembly. The deputy speakers are to earn monthly pension of N200, 000 while other rest 24-member capacity assembly will earn N100,000 each.

The bill specifically provided that former lawmakers including persons of Bayelsa origin, who served in the old Rivers State, would enjoy life pensions for their services in the state as applicable to former presidents, vice-presidents, governors and deputy governors across the country.

To qualify for the speakership pension of N500, 000 monthly, the lawmaker the person must have served for two years and above. Most stakeholders in Bayelsa State took to different social media platforms to criticise the bill, deriding the lawmakers for being selfish and insensitive.

A resident, Fidel Boboye, described the move as greed in the highest places and wondered why such political office holders with the wealth and money they had amassed still awarded life pensions to themselves.

Another resident Preye Alegbe, said: “Is this not too much for these persons even as there are many graduates out there without good jobs? Why can’t the legislature channel these legislations to areas where the younger generations can benefit more”.

Like I always say, Nigeria's problem is not Apc or Pdp. It's Nigerians that is Nigeria's problem.
This is Pdp dominated house for instance, just the same way Apc is misbehaving.
The people that make up the various parties will always display that wickedness in them irrespective of party.
The average Nigerian politician is selfish regardless of party affiliation.

The simple truth is, I have accepted to face reality. Let's be candid here, U & I knows very well that Nigeria is corrupt. Even our President that is fighting corruption is also corrupt.
U & I can't do anything concerning d bill which has already been approved. That's d gospel truth!!

So, just try to bother less about Nigeria Politics. undecided

Is Imo state no longer in SE
Is that not where Okorocha was building statues for expired leaders while owing salaries, unable to pack refuse, letting roads get worse etc?

meforyou1:
Okorocha Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo has attributed the poor state of the nation’s economy for the non-payment salary arrears being owed government workers in some states of the federation.

Okorocha said this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of a meeting of All Progressives Congress (APC) governors and governors-elect on Tuesday in Abuja. The governor said that just like the states, the Federal Government was also finding it difficult to pay the salaries of its workers.

It would be recalled that Okorocha pledged to pay the 13 months salary arrears owed primary school teachers in the state during this year’s Workers Day.
