   Back in 2014, artisans at London based gold-plating company, Goldgenie, turned a US$1049 Giant Defy 3 aluminum framed road bike into a 24-karat gold bike by gold plating every piece of the bike , from the tips of the handlebars, to the spokes, to the derailleur, chain and every single cog on the gear clusters.   Billed as ‘a mobile golden masterpiece’, the bicycle turned heads when Goldgenie took it for a spin near its offices in Westminster.
