Kogi Workers To Governor Yahaya Bello: Clear Unpaid Salaries Or Forget 2nd Term by Calculating: 8:44pm On May 01, 2019
The second term ambition of Yahaya Bello, the governor of Kogi State has been threatened by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).

Mr Bello who was sworn in as the state governor in 2016 has the work-force body to battle with if he fails to clear off their wages before the state’s governorship election slated for November 2.

While the governor claims not to have paid salaries since this year, the workers are saying otherwise, insisting they have not been paid for over 30 months.

Despite the governor’s claim, the workers repeated their position today at the celebration of their day (May Day) in Lokoja, the state capital.

The chairman of the NLC in the state, Onu Edoka, said workers in the state will re-elect the governor if he pays up the wages they are being owed.

He said if the electoral body in the country will ensure their votes count, workers in the state will decide the next fellow to govern the state.

“If you pay our salaries, leave bonuses and implement our promotions, we assure you that we shall stand by you,” Mr Edoka told the governor represented by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Folashade Ayoade-Arike.

“If only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would make their votes count, workers would decide the next governor of the state on Nov. 2.

“Workers have the power to determine the next governor of the state and would prove it in the state governorship election slated for November 2, if only the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) would make our votes count,” he said.

Responding, Mr Ayoade-Arike stated that the state government owed workers five months salaries, saying the last was paid in November 2018.

The SSG also said the government would meet with labour leaders and decide on modalities to adopt for its implementation of the new N30,000 minimum wage.

Stop comparing the Devil to Bello.

Devil only offended God,
Bello offended God, Kogi people, Igalas, Okun people offended APC, offended Pdp, offended legislature and judiciary and everyone.

People in Kogi tell you they are living in Hell and you think it's a joke? Anyone living with the devil is living in Hell.

Let me get this...if he pays the 30 months salaries-in-arrears, they will vote for him again?

4 years is 48 months. That will be salary they will never collect. Some things are better negotiated with fists. There is always the first time for everything.

Either Bello pays or not, he will be announced by INEC. They may vote another person but Bello will be declared. Do not expect any positive things

Kogi people normally na mumu people, i am nt surprised the way they are dancing like itshekiri (forward and backward) people on this issue. in saner climes, noone would be talking about Yahaya Bello, but Kogi people are people that hunger has turned their brain upside down, they are used to suffering, let them enjoy their hunger

If it were not to be the unfortunate demise of the genuine owner of that seat, would this man's foolishness have even made him come this close to power. The best he would have been is a special adviser. When the youths continue to advocate for youthful governance and this one showcases his stupidity to the world as a representative of the youth, who would then vote for the youth again....

Even though he clear all the areas he is still going to lost because Governor pharaoh ( bello) of kogi state is heartless, unmerciful and devilish man.
If pharoah of kogi state win next governorship election he will not even pay one month salary before finishing second tenure and he will be moving from one compound to another killing any worker that trying to talk about salaries. God will punish Governor pharaoh( Bello) of kogi state to his 3rd and 4th generation ( Amen)
