Boy, 19, commits suicide in church
From BOLU-OLU ESHO, Ado-Ekiti

There was pandemonium at Basiri area of Ado-Ekiti on Saturday morning as residents of the area were shocked at the sight of the lifeless body of a young man dangling on the ceiling fan hook at the centre of a Church popularly known as Alajahorah.

The young man who was identified as Aderemi Ademosu was said to have been discovered by a group of women who came to clean the Church ahead of Sunday service. They raised alarm when they saw the dangling body which attracted residents of the area to the scene.

Dangling with a blue rope round his neck, the young man was wearing a blue T-shirt and a pair of black Jeans trousers and black socks.
His black shoes, which he removed before hanging himself, were seen beside him.

The late Aderemi was said to have broken into the Church through one of the windows while other windows and doors remained shut, before carrying out his mission in the Church.
Sources revealed that the deceased came from Akure on visit to two of his elder brothers who are based in Ado-Ekiti with one of them staying in the area the incident happened, but was said to have decided to stay with one of his friends in the town.

The deceased, sources said, came to Ado-Ekiti to collect money from his elder brothers for General Certificate Examination (GCE) but a hot argument was said to have erupted between him and his brother staying close to the suicide scene which made him leave in annoyance. He was, however, sighted in the area late in the night but his remains were seen dangling in the Church the following morning.

The state Police Command spokesman, Mohammed Jimoh, however, disclosed to newsmen that the command had invited pathologists to conduct autopsy on the remains of the deceased to ascertain that no foul play was involved. He said: “The result of the autopsy showed that the young man actually committed suicide. No foul play was found.”
