Even lala is confused.
Its seems every Sunday is mother's day. On Facebook that's where they trouble my timeline.

I believe some countries have traditional Mother's day connected with their native rituals or festivities, separate from the commercialized and globalized one from the Americans or Europeans.

First, In mythical beliefs planting season (spring) is associated with Earth day which because of its fruitfullness is also called "mother", as in mother-earth. So native cultures will celebrate planting season as mother's day and it may correspond with, or not, on the gregorian calendar with the American version which is always second Sunday in May of every year.

Second, Internet news from remote areas around the globe has given us awareness of things that had always been there but never heard of.

I think the first and second factors contribute to give the perception of many Mother's day celebrations.
