The case of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s is coming to an end as the prosecutor has called the final witness in the suit against the cause of death of the late Senator which continued today at an Osun State High Court, Ede Division, which was presided over by Justice Ayo Oyebiyi of Osun State High Court.

The prosecution of the team was led by Acting Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Justice for the state, Dapo Adeniji.

The senior legal officer in the State led a Divisional Police officer in charge of Dugbe Police Station Osogbo, Mr. Ogunkanmi Gbemileke in evidence at the continuation of the trial today.

While giving his testimony, Mr. Ogunkanmi, said he directed his Men (police officers) to file and sign the autopsy and coroner form before autopsy commenced on the late Senator.

He said further that after the coroner form was filled the pathologist commenced investigation on Late Senator at Ladoke Akintola University Teaching Hospital Osogbo and immediately he finished examining the corpse, police team later moved all other necessary samples to the police headquarters Osogbo.

He stated further that one Oladipo Fabode brought a polythene bag to LAUTECH Teaching Hospital on that day which contained used drugs and later handed it over to him.

Mr. Ogunkanmi stated that he didn’t participate in the autopsy but his men did thorough investigations on the corpse and presented a report to the coroner inquest.

It would be recalled that Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara-led coroner inquest had recommended the Nurse Aderibigbe for prosecution, having established that he administered a drug overdose on the late Senator, thus causing his death.

Counsel to the suspect, Soji Oyetayo, was however given the opportunity to cross-examine the witnesses.

In his own testimony, the Consultant Pathologist, who carried out the autopsy on Adeleke’s corpse, Dr Taiwo Sholaja, also testified in the Court that Adeleke died of drug overdose.

Justice Ayo Oyebiyi thereafter adjourned the case to 6th of July 2019.
