Unfortunately he doesn't reside in Lagos but PHC. Hope yours was properly fixed and performing well since then?

@ Eyop, just noticed and modified my post. Yes, mine was properly fixed. Mercedes Benz is just it. I recently changed my arms and stab linkage, set me back about N130k, need to change the rear shocks. I hear this slight knock sound in the morning when i start the car or after the car has been parked for a long time, anybody know what that could be? and yes, our bad fuel has brought on my check engine light. All in all, i have not had a single issue with that car. My next car is a benz and after that a benz and after that a benz lol.

Am glad to know that your ride was properly fixed and sincerely that W204 is just it bro. Were you not making use of Octane boosters from time to time? I understand that our fuel is a mess and sometimes very difficult to know if the RON is even up to 91 as recommended by Mercedes Benz. Can you explain more on knock sound you experience in the morning? @ the bolded hahahahah grin grin

Congratulations once again. Very clean ride you have bro and i can see Cotonou back ground there wink. To answer your question,Yes you can make use of the Total 9000 engine oil for your service because i cannot attest to Mobil 1 sold if it's full synthetic. But please confirm viscosity when buying.

It sounds like the oil hasn't supplied properly but the sound goes away after a few seconds. Please where can i get these octane boosters in Lagos?

What type/brand of Engine oil do you make use of? octane boosters are sold all over but very few does what they actually claim. Some may not give you the required points that is required while some can do so. I can find out and revert back on this thread.

I use Mobil 1, expect your response on the octane boosters. I also read somewhere that the sound could be related to the fuel rating, thats why i am eager to use the octane booster.

Yes i am very sure that what you are experiencing is the pinging. Once you make use of the Octane booster am sure it will stop. You should have been using that from time to time.

Please do as soon as possible and am optimistic that your Check engine light will go off once you start using it. If you have the time,i would have advice that you contact Siena(he's a member here) to import some which will not take long to arrive. A lot of members have been getting them via his assistance and am sure he'll gladly assist you out. What am after is the required points i.e boosting the RON to atleast 3 or more points and very few boosters will do this.

Hi Evop,
Could our fuel also be responsible for misfiring;he calls it "post spatum". The 2005 ml350 special edition does a misfiring when I have switched of the engine and then you see the whole lights on the dash flash before the engine cuts off. finally I have used Mobil injector cleaner on two occasion I have had cause to fill up within one month.
If the injector cleaner isn't what you refer to as booster, pls where can I get to buy as I reside in Delta.
Tnx

Hello TSAT,

Spark plugs could cause misfiring but you later mentioned that you experience this when you switch of the engine and you see the whole lights on the dash flash before engine cuts off. When driving do you notice anything? Injector cleaner is different from the booster. I believe there should be a place in Delta where you can buy the booster but my concern is at what level will it boost the RON number.

So many Octane boosters in the market but very few works as claimed.

Welcome to the club bro. You can use the total coolant the total Quartz 9000 is a close alternative to the Mobil 1. I hope there is a good benz mechanic around you don't need clowns touching that machine.

Cheers!

Hello @ Slyboggie, i apologise for my late response. Please do not let any none merc specialist touch that car. My advice is to tow the vehicle to Mercedes Benz in Lekki, thats the one close to Elegushi beach. They will do a full diagnosis and give you an estimated bill and then you can take it from there. Email me so i can give you the number for someone that works there. **modified** didnt know you live in port harcourt, still shoot me an email and i will give you the guys number, i am sure there will be a solution

Thank you for your reponds
I have sent you an email.

Tnx Eyop,
I actually notice that asides from the above stated, when the engine is COLD;mostly in the mornings,it take a longer than usual kick to start. You hear the kick start Turning a long than usual time before the engine starts.but when hot,it start normally.

Also while driving, initially, the suv moves like its carrying a heavy load, but after a certain speed and stray trust, you feel the SUV move freely.

Pls what are the causes of the above and where or how can I get the booster to buy;even in Lagos??

Do you have an Error message on your Instrument cluster? For Octane Boosters: There's Dyno-Tab that claims it can boost up to 70 octane points which am really not sure but a trial will see to this. There's another one by name Nulon pso an Australian product but also sold here in Nigeria that also claims to boost up to 70 points. So it all depends on which one you decide to get but you can as well read more on it. Below are the contact information for both:

Dyno-Tab: www.fairfield.com.ng

Nulon Pso: You can contact +2348034646213 or +2348077090468

If you go through this thread, your enquiry had already been discussed. However the C230 Kompressor i4 engine is supercharged while the C320 V6 is naturally aspirated. It all depends on what you want and as you know, the V6 will slightly consume more fuel than the other. But both are very Ok as it depends on choice.

tnx. i am much conversant with the deference in fuel consumption. i need info on cost of spare parts and peculiarity of certain faults with the two models which can help my decision. tnx once again

Unfortunately i won't be able to give you accurate information about the cost of spare parts but one thing you should know is that benz parts are expensive than the Japanese but one of the advantage it has is that it doesn't break down easily unlike the Jap. Problem one might experience with the C230 is the superchargers but even with that,it's repairable and not expensive. The C320 is quieter but the kompressor is delightfully noisy but it's a performance monster cheesy. You can still await more contribution from other members.

Which of the boosters have you used pls

You need to diagnose your vehicle to ascertain what the problem is because trial and error will do more harm than good. You can get the Dyno-Tab Booster.

Wow What a wonderful and insightful trend on MB

I have been using my ML320 SUV now for 5 years without any problem whatsoever.

But recently I saw engine oil on the cover of the water container...... i opened the engine cover and there were traces of water. But when i gauged the oil using the oil-stick, there was no trace of water in the engine. The technician advised that I changed the top gaskets.....and he has given me a bill that includes 4 top gaskets, valves, surfacing of 2 cylinders, and general servicing.

I am skeptical of this advice as the car is still performing well and does not show any signs of fault whatsoever. Kindly advise me on what to do
Re: Mercedes Benz Thread by Nobody: 2:49pm On Sep 08, 2014
@boladonas you're right on luck I happen to be with my mech and showed him your post. Here is his verdict.

Engine oil is mixing with water as you can see here are the causes and your car might have been overheating already.
1. Engine coolant is bad.
2. Radiator is bad.
3. Gasket is flat.

Check the first 2 if they are ok proceed with the gasket change. Using the car like that might cost you the engine once it overheats.

Chai you don flex the car for 5 years oya show the machine some love.

Cheers!

I left Lagos with full tank on a jourey to Ekiti which is 190 miles. By the time I arrived ekiti, I had half tank left.
Is the fuel consumption ok?

Secondly, some days ago I drove & on reaching 100km, the steering started vibrating so I did alignment & wheel balancing.

What I observed again was that when I'm on top speed, and needed to slow down the steering was vibratng but not as what it was initally.

While on my journey to Ekiti, I ran into a deep porthole on Lag/Ibadan Exp. After running into the porthole, I observed that when on speed (100- 160) & pressed the brake pedal to slow down, the streering vibration was so serious.

What is responsible for the vibration when slowing down from a top speed?

Ok. Tnx. I will change the fuel pump as I already have one I bought for my 2002 ML500 previously(hope it's the same). Can that be the cause. I also notice that those lights in the dash that shows in the morning, don't come up when the SUV is driven and engine hot. But once it's cold, the longer than usual engine kick start will occur.

Will change the pump and it's filter and keep you informed

its either your bearing on d hub is damaged or brake disc is having contours those two issues cause vibration on braking , so have a Mech check it out. Its nothing more than any of the two. Be sure to get back to us after you have a Mech check it out.
