FIFA has given up on its efforts to expand the 2022 World Cup to 48 teams, football’s world governing body announced on Wednesday.

“The FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will therefore remain as originally planned with 32 teams and no proposal will be submitted at the next FIFA Congress on 5 June,” a FIFA statement read on Thursday.

Dey wanted to create chaos

This next World Cup is gong to ba a NIGHTMARE... The simple fact that it would be from the 22november til 18th of December 2022, instead of june/July (as usual), knowing that most championship around the world run through the month of Nov/dec, will make this WC crazy.... To say the least.

Are they gonna postpone all world championships (midway) and start again after the WC?
Most athletes who lose with their team (WC) would be shattered, but still have to run back home to play the remaining of the league season?
I know that the summer time in Qatar is 50 degrees weather ( thus better to play in December) but shouldn't they have thought of that before "selling the WC to Qatar?! Makes absolutely no damn sense!

That was unfortunate. Though never happened before, but it would have made it more interesting as more countries would participate than before....
