Water is life! Water is very important to every human being and it's something we use for different purposes daily.

According to United Nations report, about 66% of Africa is arid or semi-arid and more than 300 of the 800 million people in sub-Saharan Africa live in a water-scarce environment – meaning that they have less than 1,000 m3 per capita per year. 115 people in Africa die every hour from diseases linked to poor sanitation, poor hygiene and contaminated water.

Majority of people living in metropolitan cities such as Lagos, Port Harcourt and Abuja usually dig borehole in their house or patronise private individual commercialising water supply to get potable water.

In Kogi, majority of rural dwellers before now depend on rivers, community well and other stressful means to get water for their daily usage. However, Governor Yahaya Bello is changing the narrative with provision of over 300 boreholes across all the wards in the state to reduce stress Kogites face to get drinkable water, especially clean and safe water.

Additionally, the new direction administration also installed generator for each of the borehole and releases fund for community regularly for fueling. Therefore, people don't need to endanger their lives by scooping water from streams, rivers and under the mountains.

It's worthy of note that Governor Yahaya Bello's administration has made Kogi state Water Corporation functional and efficient to supply water to cities connected to the reticulation.

People who are ignorant of Kogites' plight before the implementation of GYB borehole project might want to trivialise it but women, children and men who no longer worry about how to get potable appreciate the new direction administration.

GYB is using Kogi resources for every kogite
