The Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere, on Sunday criticized the Federal Government for announcing the establishment of nomadic radio, which is being called radio for the Fulani herdsmen.

Afenifere’s spokesperson, Yinka Odumakin, in an interview, expressed his displeasure towards the move, Daily Post reports.

According to the outspoken Human Rights activist, the action was a danger signal to all Nigerians, starting from other nationalities in the North.

It would be recalled that the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, had said the Federal Government had acquired an Amplitude Modulation broadcast radio licence to cater for normads as part of efforts to end perennial farmers-herders’ clashes.

Odumakin said that such establishment could lead to genocide, adding that radio was used to promote genocide in Rwanda that led to the loss of thousands of lives.

He said: “It’s the highest form of impunity, in your face assault and it’s a yellow card to other nationalities in Nigeria by the Federal Government to say that look the final hour is approaching.

“When the federal government of Nigeria acquire a licence to promote a language Fulani that is not an official language in Nigeria, know that there is trouble.

“The constitution of Nigeria says that the activities of the National Assembly can be conducted in English, Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, now Fulfude is a language spoken by a minority in the North and most Northerners don’t understand the language so when Federal government establish a Radio to promote such language which has been alleged as to be those who want to Fulanize West Africa then there is problem.

“With the provision of federal character in Federal Government establishment, will Fulani employ Igbo and Yoruba and other tribes not Fulfude?

“We are worried because this was how Radio Rwanda was used to promote hate speech against the Tutsy and at that time, the then President of Rwanda and his wife setup a radio to speak only to hutus on where the Tutsies can be located and attacked and this led to so many lives being lost.

“This action is a danger signal to other nationalities in Nigeria and that was why it was recently asked if we are dealing with the Fulani Republic of Nigeria instead of Federal Government of Nigeria?”

I may be speaking from naivety but I think our distrust for the Buhari administration - which I must confess is justified - is obscuring our views from seeing the wider benefits of the radio station.

For long this ethnic stock has been brain washed by their political leaders into seeing the whole nation as their inheritance and with impunity they have acted thus.

I feel with a regulated organ like the radio owned by the government speaking truth to them across the nation, their entitlement mentality will be subdued and their feisty nature curbed.

Let us not throw away the baby with the bath water please.

Sadly and most painfully, they always find willing tools down South and in the Middle Belt

Watch as they begin to call Odumakin and Afenifere some unprintable names to appease their masters.

Nothing will still happen las las. Buhari knows Nigerians can only make noise and with time everything will die down, after all his government has done worse things and nothing happened.

We don't have a country simple. We should go our different ways. In 2019, the government is still talking about setting up radio station for the Fulani herdsmen, bribing the with 1 billion nairaland, protecting them when they kill, kidnap, rape and destroy communities.

Buhari won election and in less than a month the Fulani herdsmen killing had started with the presidency referring to them as socio cultural group and taken no action.

I will keep saying it that we do not have a country, the earlier the southern Nigeria and middle belt realise this the better.

The fulanis are well documented of abusing power and opportunities am 100% certain that they are going to use this radio station for ethnic cleansing.

still many dnt want to see it..instead they will criticise and call you names for telling the truth....I thought the fulanis can speak n hear Hausa language, what happen to BBC Hausa or Radio Nigeria?
