DSP Ekweremadu Might be on his way to APC. By OMA | 27-05-2019 | Politics | Politics of Interest I would seek to start this piece with two age long traditional saying and then take time to dissect. First. Politics is a game of Interest. Like the saying goes, In Politics there are no permanent friends nor permanent foes but permanent Interest and All politics is local. Second. A picture they say speaks more than a thousand words. As you pose for picture na so you go carry show. From the picture attached, Deputy Senate president Ekweremadu seemed to be very at ease and felt so at home. Of course Senator Ita Enag is Presidential adviser to the National Assembly and has been around the corridors of power for a long time now, he sure would know how to smoothen out rough edges especially politically. If truthfully politics is only about permanent interest, Then there is reason to question where the DSP's interest would fall going further after inauguration. First lets flash our minds back few months before the general elections.. How did PDP treat DSP Ekweremadu. In the build up to the General Elections when PDP choose Peter Obi as Atiku's running mate, There were speculations that the camp of the DSP had complained about improper consultations and hence the choice of Peter Obi didn't sit well with Ekweremadu. To further add salt to Injury PDP lost the Presidential elections, Worse still Ekweremadu's Boss, Bukola Saraki wont be coming back courtesy of the "O to gee" movement from the people of his home Kwara state. These are the permutations, such a high calibre Senator as DSP Ekweremadu just can not be relegated to the floor as an ordinary member to warm seats for New senators. DSP Ekweremadu being a seasoned politician knows his onus and sure can play his cards when he has to and keep them to his chest when he has to. The writtings on the wall might suggest the DSP hobnobbing and prolificing with the idea of cross carpeting to the Ruling All Progressive Congress. After all, who no like better thing. Would you rather have him left in the cold without Saraki? Or would he cut a deal and switch allegience? After all, All Politics are local. Ekweremadu might just be on his way to APC.. Only time would tell. https://www.omascope.com/politics/dsp-ekweremadu-might-be-on-his-way-to-apc 1 Like

For how long will you people be making miscalculations about this humble man. If Ekweremadu leaves PDP, he'll be like a fish out of the water. Akpabio will be better than him because he will lose even the shirt on his back. 8 Likes 1 Share |

He won't try it though. I believe he is playing for 2023 vice presidency, that's if the north fields a candidate. No body can easily decamp to another party after the latest court judgments. There must be proof of division in PDP or else he will lose his seat. 3 Likes |

Ekweremadu might not be happy with his VP- ish in the last general elections, but his Achilles heel is the PDP in the state. Enugu, asides arguably Akwa-Ibom is the strongest PDP state in Nigeria. Every political party including religious bodies know that...so he knows that leaving there will get him the Akpabio treatment whether or not GburuGburu joins him..... He is positioning himself for the VP to any Northern Candidate the PDP throws in come 2023. But life first we all pray for.... 3 Likes 1 Share |

PStacks: Ekweremadu wont go to APC, he knows it would be political suicide. Igbos generally dont like APC and PDP calls the shot in Enugu state. If Ekweremadu defected to APC, not only would it look petty of him, his political career would be over as the chances of him winning elections under APC in Enugu state is zero 4 Likes 1 Share |

gidgiddy: you have forgotten not every politician contests elections. All APC needs to do is danggle the carrot at him and promise him 2023 VP slot whomever comes out as presidential candidate. that puts him in a very comfortable position and wont have qualms with his people. Ekweremadu is a very smooth politician, he might be the APC Messiah the South-East and South-South has been waiting for Since Rochas Okorocha has failed to close ties. Ekeweremadu is pretty smart. he can sell water to a fish. igbo's would buy APC is its Ekweremadu selling it to them. 1 Like 1 Share |

I dnt think so..if he has become the former dsp means he can't be a flour member..after all, senator law an campaigning to be the Senate president now has been in the house since 1999 |

Re: Ekweremadu Might Be On His Way To APC. by gidgiddy: 7:41am On May 28, 2019 |
PStacks: Not possible. Ekweremadu is no fool. He knows that after 8 years of APC zoning its presidential ticket to the North, it will have to rotate the presidency to the South in 2023. The president and the vice- president cannot both come from the south. This means that the APC vice-presidential slot must filled by a Northerner in 2023. There's actually nothing APC can do to increase its presence in the SE, they are in fact losing, they have lost Imo state. A political party cannot be popular everywhere and APC is not popular in the SE. 1 Like 1 Share |

fergie001:Enugu is not a rocksolid PDP state. That is a misconception that many people have held for long due to ignorance. The truth is that wawa people are politically docile and the PDP exploit that to pay off opposition parties in enugu state to remain in power. Just like OUK in Abia has proven, Ekweremadu can join APC and still win elections with ease. 1 Like 1 Share |

No need for all these nonsense, Atiku is coming. For the ignorant folks, Ekweremmadu is interested in contesting for Enugu's Governor in 2023 and he is taking it unless picked as VP. Anyway, stupppid analysis from a Yoruba moslem. |
Re: Ekweremadu Might Be On His Way To APC. by NonsoWow: 8:06am On May 28, 2019 |
[s] ChristianNorth:[/s] Ekweremadu is from enugu west senatorial zone. Power will shift to enugu east zone in 2023 in accordance with zoning arrangements in that wawa state. Ekweremadu saying that he will not run for senate again in 2023 definitely means he has his gaze set on aso rock. |

NonsoWow:Let others pay their docility and exploit it too now? Is Chime not in APC? He almost fought Ike for that seat whilst he was leaving as Gov...there is still chance..he can contest in 2023 oooo. What about Ken Nnamani? Why did Jim Nwobodo return back? Would Ekweremadu die in Senate? Did he tell you he doesn't want to get to a higher elected public office? It has nothing to do with his Senate seat,he can comfortably win his seat with AA or ANN....but it ends at that....because he is doing well for his people. OUK as a person did well for his Abia North axis(in terms of job opportunities et al.) and messed the total Abia up. If elections is conducted fair and free, nobody will beat OUK even though generality of Abians don't like him,for reasons mainly not related to governance. Moreover the Governments after him have made him a "mini-god" with their non-performance. |

What is so special about APC any sane mind will be happy to join? Only power corrupt politician and those who have skeleton in their cupboard will move from PDP to APC. PDP even in the opposition is more matured and organize than APC 1 Like |

NonsoWow: OUK rigged his election, we all know. No rational thinking person will join APC. Ekweremadu can not leave PDP to join the Miyetti Allah Party. They will give him the same treatment that Rochas is getting now. |
