RE: A LESSON FROM HAITI Dr. Francois 'Papa Doe' Duvalier elected as President of Haiti in 1956. He came in in a very humble manner. He then set about consolidating his power by means of force and playing on the superstitious nature of many Haitians. He declared himself President for life in 1964. His safety was ensured by his personal militia, the feared Tontous Macoutes-Haitian slang for 'bogeymen' He make sure the Tontous Macoutes vastly outnumbered the Haitian army, reducing the chance of successful coup. He prepared Jean-Clande know as 'Baby Doc' his son to be President after him. Nigerians this a big Lesson for us. Vote wisely in this coming 'ELECTION 2011'. Say NO to 'DICTATORSHIP'. |
