No Way! Lagos is now too big a city to be totally grounded just for the sake of cleaning gutters. Research even shows that only 5% of eligible population used to partake in Clean ups. Others sleep or read newspapers or have street meetings.
If the government and the PSP do their work well there will be no need for this debate.

I dont live in Lagos but i think monthly sanitation will help as well to keep the state clean.

It is a good thing to do, it should however not just be a period of sanitation but also security awareness, health talks, other health related activities and community service.

CDAs should be empowered to oversee these activities, all youths MUST be involved, we need to build the service and responsibility mindset in youths, most of us see the sanitation period as a good time for street football, it's not good for supposed future leaders.

Let's build strong communities through meaningful engagements on these Saturdays as well, the LNSC, LAGIESC and health workers should work together with communities.

We look forward to a greater Lagos, may Sanwoolu succeed, may Lagos succeed.[b][/b]

Which advanced country dedicates a day as sanitation? These leaders travel abroad but do not bring back the exposure. The problem is not a monthly sanitation day but lack of proper/effective/adequate waste disposal system coupled with the mental orientation of the populace towards waste disposal.
