Have you done nurse work before?
Spend 18hours a day inside one stuffy hospital packing shit and blood upandan. No even time to rest, everybody shouting your name front and back. People opening smell-smell nyash for you to chook injection.

It's always easy to criticize when you have not done their work first.

I have worked in Nigeria and abroad, I have never used this...
People that do nothing complain the most
A whole unit failed to cannulate a patient in the uk and the procedure was canceled, no machine like this turned up
Setting up iv cannula is an art

People that have seen what obtains outside the country don't make as much noise as the 'local' know-it-alls that can afford to slap a nurse because she was looking for a vein! Try that when you travel abroad undecided

When they are 'opportuned' to see oyinbo, they are at their humblest grin

Fucking inferiority complex

I've only seen this used abroad in paediatric patients. Even at that it isn't always successful.
The only sure way to get a good vein especially in emergency situations is to use a portable ultrasound machine where you scan and see your deep vein if you can't find any.
People and their drama.

Meanwhile, why are people blaming the Drs and nurses for not having this device? Should they buy it with their own money and be using it in the hospitals?
Even Oyibo Drs struggle to cannulate black people because your veins are not as easily visible compared to their own skin. While your Nigerian drs do it easily with their eyes closed
A person who is difficult to cannulate is simply difficult to cannulate. Of course experience and expertise also matters. ITU/ burns specialists may be better at cannulation than most other Drs.

Hahahaha... Serious inferiority complex o, our people are lost.
Our people defer so much to white skin and talk down their own
They don't realise that those guys are more of hype, they talk themselves up too much
We need to start being more appreciative of our own

That is really a question of investing in technology. Though that comes with its own problems. Ogbodo Oyinbe , you just buy. In Nigeria you have to ensure that there is local support , stock of spares , ups, inverter, stabilizer, surge arrester, or your expensive investment to boost your operations will quickly become a paperweight.

That scenario applies in most facets of our life. Mechanic doing trial and error instead of using obd scanner.

Nigerian doctors can work with little or no equipment
I respect them.
Once they combine Nigerian experience with foreign technology they become the best .
Fact! And not just doctors, it why Nigerians excel in whatever they set their minds on out there.

Nigerians are really ungrateful ..i once saw a severely dehydrated child brought to clinic in the middle of the night. There was no light so the doctor had to use his phone as torchlight. The doctor spent more than 30mins to to set the iv line. He could have just left the child to die from shock since spending so much time getting venous access is the same thing as traumatizing the child .Nigerians usually channel their aggression in the wrong direction. what stops the government from making sure that a public hospital has 24hr power supply? what stops the government from providing that equipment that makes it easy to locate vein? All we do is to call doctors different names while hailing the culprits. I tire for unna

There are still so many hospitals in the western world that use the nigerian method of cannulation. Not all Hospitals, infact majority of the hospitals do not use this technology.Let's stop making ourselves look bad.And please,I practice in the western world.

Exactly, we use vein finders only when we've failed 2 times.. . And vein finder doesn't guarantee a one time cannulation. No need to paint Nigeria backward on this.

Is not called rope but a torniquet. That technology is just new and will soon reach us probably after a newer model have been produced abroad. The honourable minister said that some of us can be farmers and tailored joined together with doctor work

I have suffered on occasions by this ineptitude. Once they pierced me like 9 times, finally I say I no do again. Make I crawl back home(was very sick). One nurse just hold my hand, closed her eyes and prayed for a second, then found the vein.

In terms of everything we have a very long way to go.
Certainly not religion. We've simply mastered that one and even surpassed those who introduced it.
