Among the victims of the twin car bombs that rocked Abuja today was the son of a well-known police officer, Zakari Biu.

A controversial anti-terrorism police officer under the Abacha regime, Mr. Biu was accused of numerous human rights abuses. He was also linked to the still unsolved murder of Baguado Kaltho, a senior reporter at the News magazine who was killed by a bomb detonated in the bathroom of a hotel where the police claimed he was trying to plant a bomb.
