The Southwest sponsored education with funds derived from COCOA derivatives. A lot of our leaders are testament to this.
If we increase tax to 90%, if the Ameachi's , Osinbanjo's, Buhari's and Orjis of Nigeria don't patronize it, it would crumble. Same with Healthcare.
Senator Adeleye recently berated the minister of health on his woeful performance and reminded him when they both worked there in the 80's and all the labs worked.
These people have all checked out of Nigeria, they have ruled Nigeria in shambles for so long that shamble is now normal.

Back in the 1960s, the number of people going to.school was.low enough for each regional government to cater for them.

Univerisitws back then had less than 5000 students enrolled.

Plus, mission schools existed.

Our problems started in the 1970s when government used oil boom money to take over mission schools, built a lot of new schools, polytechnics and universities.

These eventually started becoming a financial burden on the government from the 1980s onward when oil prices fell, and when our agricultural sector collapsed and could not compete with Asia.


That's when standards started falling.

Today, I doubt that any region, even if we brought them back, would be able to find education. There are far more people in school, and earnings are not enough.

Either Nigeria becomes an industrial nation or we take more loans to earn the billions we need for quality stuff.

We have no choice.

Our budget for education is less than 3billion dollars. To be shared among thousands of primary, secodarry schools and over a hundred univerisites and other tertiary centers. To make things better we need a hundred times that amount. Tell me how your revolutionary government would raise the money.
