See me defending Access when I am not even a shareholder. Well, share the LOOT with us OOO.

The patient dog eats the fattest bone. Can imagine how you felt when the price of Access was stagnant after the lifting of TS. Now you are having the feeling of De ja Vu
Yeah i felt frustrated because i actually bought this stockshed loads of it back in '04 looks like i will sell about half and then decide what to do with the pile of cash i will be sitting on i'm still looking for what to do with the cash from WEMA

The bulls are on the rampage on the NSE from what i have read on the sister thread but i will say this the liquidity that is fuelling demand and pushing up the stock prices will be re-directed to the primary market to take advantage of the rash of PO and IPO's on offer and for those coming on stream which will have the effect of mopping up 'excess' liquidity in the secondary market therefore things should settle down a bit on the secondary market so we bargain hunters can go hunting again(i'm buying RedStar Expresss now though)

So end of year and 1Q next year should be interesting

Secondly all manner of companies will be declaring FY results and a lot of peeps will be taking profit and with the  festive season knocking therefore prices might be depressed  a bit

Good day all, longest time no see!!!

I believe most, if not all of us have amassed a bit of wealth in the year 2007. The market went up and later exprienced a bit of lull in the third quarter of the year due to profit-taking and portfolio realignment of big time fund managers. As the year draws the curtains, I believe the index should close high within the 55,000 points range form 33,000 last year (up by about 60%). Other windows of opportunities abound in some public offers currently on like Bank PHB, Afribank (gat reservations about its high forcast PER for 2008 which is about 30 times its 2008 earnings @ offer price!), will ok Afribank for investors with a two year horozon, Zenith will also be a killer as returned funds from 1st bank's offer goes straight to Zenith. Below is s brief report on offers and placements you shouldnt miss this year;

1. DIAMOND BANK PLC
Diamond Bank Plc: Offer for subscription (only within the Federal Republic of Nigeria but listed on the London Stock Exchange) US$ 400,000,000 Offering of Global Depository Receipts (GDRs) on the basis of 1GDR per 100 Diamond Bank shares. At a Reference price Per GDR of US$13.75 (Nigerian Investors can access the Foreign Exchange through the official window in order to subscribe to the offer). The offer price per GDR to be determined on Tuesday, 04 December 2007 may close below or above the reference price.

Application List Opens: Tuesday, 20th November, 2007

Application List Closes: Tuesday, 4th December, 2007

Minimum Applications of 50 GDRs & Multiples of 50 GDRs & Multiples of 50 GDRs thereafter.
Offer Hotlines are 08020567536, 08073359587, and 07039568204.
It may interest investors that should the final offer price closes below the reference price of US$13.75 per GDR, the value of the local shares may subsequently nose-dive (GTB shareholders may testify to this). The reference price of US$13.75 per GDR translates to N16.29 per local Diamond share. The price of Diamond Bank currently trades at N18.50 (as at 27th Novemebr, 2007)
BULL POINT
Increased capital base should increase earnings and ultimately improve bottom lines.
BEAR POINT
Weakening dollar against the naira may increase exchange rate risk.

While I wish you all the best of the yuletide season,I implore you to take go through the following security tips if you are in/plan to visit Lagos this season;
There will be lots of miscreants on our roads and streets in this period and month of festivity; their sole purpose will be to deprive you of your money and property As such I urge you to take precaution putting @ the forefront your personal safety and that of your property.

Please ensure you and your families take the following precaution and any other you may think of;
1. Lock all car doors and windows when driving.
2. Do not leave office at the same time everyday - vary the routine.
3. Use many alternate routes of travel to your destinations, particularly if you leave in down-town Lagos .
4. If your car is lightly hit, either from the rear or from the side, do not stop immediately - it could be a ruse by robbers to get you and snatch your car.
5. Do not stop to render any assistance in an apparent crash or auto accident, even If it looks real. ( Please dial 774 5703; 774 5705; 774 5706; 791-3550; 791-3540 for police assistance)
6. Always keep sufficient fuel level in your car.
7. When driving, be alert to all activities on the road, front and rear. Be well focused.
8. Watch out for someone trailing your car and if you think you are being followed, drive to the nearest Police Station but avoid driving home straight.
9. Avoid giving lifts to unknown persons; you may loose your car or life if you do.
10. Do not expose brief cases, handbags and other valuables on the car seat while driving as this could attract robbers. Robbers may deliberately hit your car to get these valuables ( Please if possible hide bags and valuables under car seat)
11. If your car has a flat tyre, drive on to a SAFE enough area before you change the tyres because armed robbers could in pretext that they are LASTMA officials tow victims' vehicles to an unknown destination.
12. Do not stop if any pedestrian tells you that you have a flat tyre, engine is leaking etc. It could be a device to stop you and attack you.Especially around Abalti barracks,Ojuelegba along Ikorodu rd.
13. Also avoid traffic peak periods and areas with high rate of possible attacks i.e Third Mainland Brigde; Ikoyi, Dolphine, Ketu Alapere 7-Up axis, CMS Bus Stop. Maryland under bridge You-turn.
In case of an emergency ( Please dial 774 5703; 774 5705; 774 5706; 791-3550; 791-3540 for police assistance)
Season's Greetings of a crime free yuletide

aylala2002:
Hi Nairaland users!!! I am Ayo, for short, a research/investment analyst with a reputable stockbroking firm in Lagos Nigeria, and this is the begining of a daily report on the events at the nigerian stock market.

Nigerians and even foreign investors home and in the diaspora have reaped more than a 100 percent returns on there investments between January 2007 and now thanks to the bullish stock market. Virtually all the quoted stocks/shares has rallied by some percentage in the current campaign in 2007.

Most active sub-sector is the banking sector which can give maximum returns for short-term investors. Closely followed by the banking sub-sector is the insurance sub-sector which is now the toast of investors which is not unconnected with their recent recapitalization exercise boosting their confidence in the process.

In my series, i will focus on five active sub-sectors by picking hot stocks which could make you so rich without having to sweat or monitor your investment. For today, i will merely start by highlighting the following stock picks, based on the specifics;

1. Bank PHB: Having reconstructed its shares recently and listed last week at N16.10 per share, it has been on the rise to close at N22.05 today. In less than two weeks investors who put in N16 million on the banking stock now has N22 million worth of shares. I recommend Bank PHB as a BUY for all classess of investors based on the bank's recent improved earnings and profitability.

2.Fidelity Bank: Started trading January this year below N3.00 per share to close at N7.49 today. Investors have reaped more than a 100% share value return on the stock between January and now. Its recent 9 months result for Mar 2007 revealed a N3.1 billion profit after tax compared to N969 million recored in the comparable year of 2005. I recommend a strong BUY on Fidelity in view of its capital appreciation prospects in its last quarter.
Other recommended stock are Cornerstone insurance, Mutual Benefit Assurance, Dangote Sugar, IBTC, Diamond bank, UBA, 7-UP, PZ, Sterling Bank, FirstInland and FCMB.

3.NAHCO: This is unarguably the hottest stock this year, the aviation stock is currently the solely quoted stock on the NSE having suspended trading on ADC and Albarka airline due to the revocation of the licenses of duo. Nahco has firmed its share value by about 500 percent this year alone. Quoted last year at N5.00 following its privatisation by the Fed. govt of Nigeria, it closed yesterday's tradin at an all-time high of N70.05 per share, it means an investor who has 1 million units of Nahco has made a gross profit of N65 million naira witout havin to run the coy himself!!! There is no beta time to invest in Nigerian Equities than now followin reduction in transaction charges at the capital market.

Call me on my mobile Reltel +234-01-4041391 for further enquiries please.

CAVEAT.  Note that my analysis is based on reports and company results gathered from the Nigerian stock exchange therefore highly subjective and I will not not be held liable for any loss of capital on any investment as most investmets are risk prone. But remember the higher the riskiness of an investment the higher the expected profit.

The thing is, we mostly hear about the good performance of a stock after it has appreciated. is there anyway you study the trends before it starts moving? because if you buy based on current analysis, you might actually be buying when the market is overbought.

Investors are now wiser
