Exporting oil isn’t bad, the question is what are we doing with the money

Very correct.

What we do with the money is waste it on importing stuff, including things we can make at home.

Another thing is wasteful spending on subsidy, which means nnpc cannot make a.profit ,and build new refineries and upgrade existing ones.

Even then, we need oil at 140 dollars per barrel to earn enough cash. Last time it was at that level was in 2008

We rely on one source of income, and we don't produce enough oil to make enough money.

Plus the price does not favour us.

And our economy is not industrial. Why should we be rich?

i beg to dissagree with you.

Yes 9ja is a poor con3, but we are poor because we have incompetently stupid and selfish old fools as leaders and gullible yoots as followers.

Afospecialk:
Pray it's utilized judiciously

THE AREWA POLITICAL LEADERSHIP THAT HAS SEIZED POWER UNDER PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI WILL NEVER USE THE CRUDE OIL PROCEEDS EQUITABLY AND JUDICIOUSLY.

They will even throw the bulk of the money into the defence sectors such as buying ammunitions, guns and bullets to fight the BOKO HARAM insurgent which remain undefeated despite the huge amount of money spent to eradicate the problem.

IT IS LIKE MONEY POUR ON ROCKS IT NEVER SOLVE NIGERIA 'S LONG YEARS OF PROBLEM.

A GOOD WAY TO MANAGE THE CRUDE OIL PROCEEDS IS TO USE THE MONEY TO INVEST IN THE POWER SECTORS SO THAT IT WILL HELP TO FIGHT UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM.

Artisans such as welders, barbers, hairdressers, etc will get electricity to power their machines.

That's how Goodluck told us that the refineries would be fully completed and in full operation by 2014.
And up till now, importation of petroleum products remain unabated.

People are still celebrating oil exports in this day and age when the world is leaving oil behind for more advanced energy sources... The travails of Venezuela should teach us to think hard and fast, and stop paying lip service to economic diversification.

I only hope we can enjoy the benefits.

Gowon proclaimed that we had too much money than know what to do with it. Guess what, since they didn't know what to do with it, they started looting uncontrollably until Muritala Mohammed stepped in.

The past government did same, price of a barrel of oil was good enough, and then everyone who had access to the treasury started fetching for themselves.

Only God can save us

In that case expect more Father Christmasgrin
