The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended Hon. Ndudi Elumelu and six others.

The six others are Hon. Wole Oke, Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu, Hon. Anayo Edwin, Hon. Gideon Gwadi, Hon. Toby Okechukwu and Hon. Adekoya Abdul-Majid.

They had been summoned on Thursday by the NWC over the role they were alleged to have played in the minority leadership tussle at the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

According to the NWC, their action was an insubordination, hence they are to commence a month-long suspension.

Wrong move actually. Suspending them will not make Chinda house minority leader. Instead, they’ve further solidified the division within PDP members of the house of reps. Sadly, those with Elumelu are in the majority and they will simply stand with the majority APC members on any matter against the interest of their hostile party.

We can also see that PDP - despite all talks has not purged itself of undemocratic behaviors. Four years ago, the party led the campaign that presiding and principal officers are NASS positions and should be decided by only members of the assembly. Why is it now so difficult for the party to accept the decision of majority members of the minority caucus?

The party simply cannot practice what it preaches and that is a very bad sign for a party that is parading itself as a better alternative to the ruling party.

Elumelu and others suspended by PDP should decamp to SDP and they will still retain thier Minority principal offices.... Shame on Wike and PDP that wants to take everything...
