Executive Secretary, Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme, Simeon Onyemaechi, says only five percent of Nigerians have access to the health insurance scheme. He said this in Awka yesterday at a presentation of the Anambra State Health Insurance Scheme.

The Commissioner for Health, Vincent Okpala, said the nation’s health sector needed a drastic improvement to cater for the health needs of the citizenry. According to him, a situation where Nigeria occupies 187 out of 191 positions in the World Health Organization ranking is dangerous.

Leader of the European Union to the state, Montserrat Pantaleoni, said the state needed an operational healthcare system to take healthcare to the next level.
