The Kaduna State House of Assembly on Thursday rejected the nomination of Aliyu Jafaru as commissioner over an old Facebook post criticizing Governor Nasir El-Rufai’s education policy.

Mr Jafaru, 42, was nominated for confirmation as Hon. Commissioner for Agriculture by Mr El-Rufai.

With the exception Mr Jafaru, a lecturer at the Department of Geography of Kaduna State University, all the nominees have been screened and confirmed.

During the screening at the today’s plenary, the Speaker, Aminu Shagali, reminded the nominee about his Facebook post in which he criticized the governor’s policies.

“You criticized the same administration about to employ you now in one of your posts on Facebook.

“You said there’s nothing good about the education policy and attacked the governor.

“Notwithstanding that, the governor chose you based on merits. Your CV was chosen among about 10 CVs presented to the governor, do you think it’s honorable to accept this nomination to work for an administration you think is a bad one?”

The nominee’s response however did not convince the House, which unanimously rejected his nomination.

if he hadn't heed to the lecturers advice why would he recondult employment examination for teachers in kaduna state?
instead of the foolish lawmaker to ask him how he will go about improving what he criticized if given the opportunity and he's there trying to remind us all that they don't really care about making policies, but just to loot money.

The Governor knew he was criticised by the man he's trying to make a commissioner in his administration, yet he chose him. It shows that the governor is mature, intelligent with zeal to move KD forward irrespective of your religious or political learning. Every good leader should listen to constructive criticism & not see critics as enemies as there are one or two things to learn from criticism.

Maybe a constructive criticism would have been better. If you cannot see anything good about a policy or someone implementing it, how do you work with such a person if given the chance?

This rubber stamp legislators who are only there to collect allowance don't know their job. It is the Governor (Executive) that nominated him that should worry about his past opinion about them not the legislators, but since state legislators in Nigeria are House boys to the Governors that's why the house is going out of their way in their efforts to please the master.

El Rufai is a cunning Midget. He can set the man up so that he can disgrace him. The man rushed thinking that his criticism has earned him a commissioner slot not knowing he is dealing with a perfect fulani conman. If El Rufai wanted him he would have influenced on the law makers to confirm. It is El rufai he criticized not the lawmakers
