Wrong answer. Why is it ok? Is it because Nigeria is currently experiencing current account deficit as a component of our balance of payment? In the past 4 years, the price of crude oil has gone up from the low of ~$26 to ~$66. Our reserves has also gone up from below ~$30 billion to above $45 billion. We've maintained current account surplus in the past 4 years. So, why are we not talking about revaluing naira? People are so quick to talk about naira devaluation in a low crude oil prices climate. What happened to the reverse case? When the price of oil goes up, it strengthens our balance of payment. Why are we not using this argument this time? |
