Gpda (greater Portharcourt Development Authority)- What Is Happening? by ovundaP: 5:56pm On Oct 14, 2010
Recently the Amaechi government came up with a Master plan for the grand development of Portharcourt and environs and saddled this responsibility with the GPDA establishment. Sadly, this authority has not come to terms with the mandate given by the ebullient Governor whose efforts and strides to take Rivers state to the next level is been derailed by some of the activities and in-activities of these establishment.

There have been so many cases of illegality carried out by this establishment and nothing has been done on these wrongdoings. Some of the ones readily observables are as follows:-

a) Demolitions of properties without adequate legal backing and compensation.
b) For close to 1 1/2 years, now, GPDA have not been able to come up with exact road widening dimensions for the roads they claim they want to expand thereby stopping land owners from developing their properties.
c) Allowing the building of the new ultra modern Obio-Akpor market while destroying properties adjacent and on the same stretch as the market. (case of double standard and hypocrisy)

Now the questions will be , why was the GPDA established for in the first place?? Was it established to further inflict losses and agony to the already down-trodden society, who had bought their properties before the authority came into being - Rotimi Amaechi should please x-ray this establishment and make sure that they are properly and timely aligned to his vision for our Rivers state.
