It will never happen.
1st term is for obeying your godfather, licking ass and making sure you secure 2nd tenure.
2nd term is for obeying your family, friends and political associates.....build your base so that you'll have something to fall back on after your 8 years.
Obaseki is in 2nd tenure.
That's where Ambode failed.
He should hv licked Tinubu's a*s throughout 1st tenure so as to secure 2nd tenure....but he was in a hurry

Obaseki is just in first term o. Edo governorship election doesn't sync with normal governorship elections. Same as Bayelsa and some few others. Because Oshiomhole became governor through Supreme Court win against PDP sitting governor Prof. Osunbor.

I think the aim is for Oshio to deny Obaski second tenure coming u next year.

If APC do not sort the crisis PDP will take back the state in 2020. Obaseki might even defect to PDP considering that the National APC is siding with Osho.

Don't worry. His second tenure is guaranteed.

Probably in the same angle. That's the main point. Seeking advice and following that advice is keg. Whereby you don't seek the advice and decide to go about it your own way, don't you expect your elders to now caution you if they don't see it as the right way?

So all circles down to one thing, you should always look up to your leader (don't bite the finger that feeds you). You either seek their advice or listen to them when you don't.

If you worked for Dangote and after a while he positions you to set up your own factory somewhere and you start making excess money, will you call him your Godfather? Even if you don't call him your godfather, will you always be loyal to him because of the position he has placed you in life?

Just simple logic but at the end, because it's all politics, we got it twisted by the godfather name. It's just a natural thing that we all live up to, always be loyal to who placed you in a position of power.

Your analogy doesn't fit.

I think the important thing is serving the interest of the masses.

Does the advice or rebellion serve the interest of the masses?

Any loyalty that doesn't serves the yearnings of the electorate makes no sense at all. That's the crux of my position.

If you look carefully, pdp has a very strong cartel in Edo state. Those pdp guys are on point and Edo state not to forget is the only South South state with apc leadership. That is just to tell you that the whole south south governors and in strong ground with pdp just to take over Edo state.

Now Oshiomole might only be trying to fix people he knows will be loyal to the apc in the state parliament like you said, but obviously Obaseki has is own issues now with other stakeholders from his own side who are making Obaseki think Oshiomole is trying to be a Godfather and the end result of this is the fact that it is the handwork of pdp moles within Obaseki's government. If you notice, the pdp chairman of Edo state is a man that always outcries in any given opportunity but has been very silent about all this while because they are waiting patiently and working behind the scene.

Oooh! I think I understand you better now. Party, damn it. Let us focus a bit on quality leadership.

I'm not a Pro-PDP, how can a Governor allow another person constitute Parliament that's not loyal to him? If Oshiomole owns majority of the Parliamentarians, is he not a Godfather, what's the difference between those PDP Godfather?, won't he impeach the Governor if he wishes?

I will give you a good instance, Peter Obi helped Obiano into power, he got there denied him. He (Peter Obi) left him there, and focus on better things without fighting him, to avoid heating up the polity.

Temidayo Akinsuyi, Lagos

Chief Ayiri Emami, the Ologbotsere (traditional Prime Minister) of Warri Kingdom on Friday urged elder statesman, Chief Edwin Clark to stop interfering in the politics of Edo State saying he is shocked by the comments he made on the political crisis rocking the state.

It will be recalled that Clark had faulted the ultimatum the two chambers of the National Assembly to the Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, to issue a fresh proclamation on the inauguration of the state House of Assembly or risk a take over of the Assembly.

He said the directive from the federal lawmakers was unconstitutional.

However speaking with journalists on Friday evening, Ayiri, who is a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) described Clark’s statement as unfortunate.

Accusing the former Minister of Information of taking sides, Ayiri said Clark should have advised Obaseki to comply with the laws of the land rather than encouraging him to continue his illegality on the inauguration of the Edo State House of Assembly.

” When I read what Chief Clark said, I felt very disappointed because he is an elder statesman and he should know the laws more than many of us”.

” In 2015 I recall that Chief Clark never supported Governor Obaseki so if Obaseki is trying to be very ungrateful to people that brought him to power, I think as a father, Chief Clark should have advised him better, not to cause chaos in Edo state because Edo and Delta are still the same”.

“I expected him to call Obaseki and advise him as a father but he did not do that, rather he took side immediately. Let me tell you, there is nothing about Edo state that we don’t know, the National Assembly has it as a duty to intervene in any state Assembly that has crisis”.

” So, for anybody to fault that move is unfortunate and that Is why I am shocked with the comment made by Chief EK Clark”.

“All of us knew how Obaseki became governor of Edo state, he was never a politician. It was Oshiomhole who made him governor against all odds. Oshiomhole offended many people loyal to him just because he wanted to make Obaseki governor”.

“So it is unfortunate that today, the governor sees himself as a thin god, exhibiting so much disrespect for the man that made him governor. That is ingratitude of the highest order and it is not good for him as a governor”.

“Even comedians are now using Obaseki to crack jokes, he has become a laughing stock in the eyes of the public and that is not good”.

“There is an adage in Itsekiri which says you must remember the good of yesterday. Whatever Obaseki is doing he must sleep and reflect the good time he had with Comrade Adams Oshiomhole. A couple of times I had an opportunity to sit with Comrade and he kept telling me that ‘Ayiri, you know how I laboured to bring Obaseki so I cannot support pulling that house down’. So I don’t see Comrade fighting Obaseki but Obaseki is juts fighting himself”.

*“It is unfortunate that the governor has allowed some politicians take advantage of this crisis so as to make money from him. They are hailing him and before he will realise what he is doing he is already in a big mess.* So Chief EK Clark should concentrate on Delta state where he caused so much problem for people and leave Edo alone because he does not know how Obaseki became governor” he said.

Nigerian politicians are so selfishly full of themselves to learn. They keep repeating the same mistake. The fact is it is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT for an incumbent EXECUTIVE GOVERNOR who is constitutionally powerful to be ETERNALLY dependent politically on his predecessor or any godfather who installed him.

Recent experiences have shown that most of such arrangement failed to work: Gov. Chris Ngige vs Chris Uba, Gov. Theodore Orji vs Orji Uzor Kalu, Gov. Sullivan Iheanacho vs Chimaroke Nnamani, Gov. Liyel Imoke vs Donald Duke, Gov. Chibuike Amaechi vs Peter Odili, Gov Emmanuel Udom vs Godswill Akpabio, etc. Interestingly, it did not even work well between President Umaru Yar'adua and Olusegun Obasanjo.

However, this arrangement has SO FAR worked perfectly in Lagos State.

The exception was Abdulfatah Ahmed vs Bukola Saraki, 2011 to 2019.

Governor Ahmed behaved like a servile dog to Bukola Saraki so much that NO allocation from anywhere (FAAC, etc) could be touched UNTIL Bukola Saraki arrived from Abuja.

That was the reason he (Ahmed) went down as one of the most useless Governors in the history of Kwara State with no single legacy worth mentioning...

This is sad but makes sense. Many might not see the truth and condemn Oshiomole, but truly this is politicians for you. Oshiomole fought so hard to ensure the end of pdp in the state after their terrible years of ruling. For anyone in Edo state to boldly come out and say Oshiomole did nothing in Edo state, I believe that person needs a mental check or maybe that person is an indomie generation kid.

Many see Oshiomole as someone who wants to be a Godfather, but if you look deeply that is not his agenda. He is only trying to protect what has been planned to work for the country because we all forget that the oppositions are never sleeping till they regain power.

Obaseki might be doing well as a governor in Edo but he is being ungrateful for forgetting how he got into that sit. Trying to follow the instructions from a past governor of the same state who fought tirelessly to bring you to power is nothing to do with Godfatherism.

There are issues that can be sorted out without the media and so when it gets out to the media you know that there is already a dispute. That dispute is being sponsored by the opposition or the moles of the opposition who want to take advantage of the situation and that is the direction Obaseki has chosen to follow.

We all think it will end well with him if he continues like this but we forget that those who laboured to put one in power and knew exactly how they did it can still do it again especially when they are still in powerful position. Don't also forget that the normal citizens who really vote care less about who would take power because during elections they only focus on the money being shared and even after that, these results don't count as victory because we all know the story and how every politician that looses an election will run to tribunal.

Obaseki should better wake up now because as long as he is in Apc he can't defeat them in this way and the worse mistake he will ever make is the assumption that the doors of pdp is open.
following the instructions of the past governor is not godfatherisn?so please what is godfatherism?,oshiomole was well paid for whatever good he has done for the state.he wasn't a governor for free.he was a governor for good 8 years so he had time to implement whatever idea he had for the state.he can only advice or recommend his ideas to the current governor.if oshiomole means well for that state he should leave obaseki alone.

Every comment I have read so far is biased either for or against the two actors, some are even being tribalistic in their submission no one has addressed the true subject of the matter, is it constitutional for a sitting governor to do magogo inauguration of the state House of assembly in the dark of the night and elect a speaker with 9 out of 26 member of the state House of assembly infringing on the fundamental right of the other duely elected 16 members? A governor should be an epitome of respect for the rule of law and not the other way round, I do not expect anything less than the position taken by the national assembly it will be a mockery of the legislative arm of government. If they let this pass other governors will start doing this and this illegality will become a norm, all the names calling and accusations of Adams oshiomole by governor obaseki is just baseless and ploy to get the people's support for his illegality I see no God fatherism here.
