The ECK Way to Pray

There are a lot of people who pray to God in the wrong way. They want others to do things their way, so they use prayer to control others and bring about their own wishes. It's like a basketball team praying together before a game: "Dear God, help us win." Meanwhile, on the opposite side of the court the other guys are busy doing the same thing. What kind of prayer is that?

When you ask God for help, you can say, "I am aware of the situation and the problem, and I want your help in whatever way you see fit." This is the attitude of the ECKist. You look to see what you, yourself, can do to make the thing work; how you can overcome your own problem.

When you practice this, you are learning, unfolding, getting experience to become a mature Soul—someone fit to be a Co-worker with God.

I've been following and reading eckankar teachings for sometime now, i used to have 'letters to gail' vol1 by paul twitchel, but i lost it sometime last year. Pls Op can you help with his other publications like 'tiger's fang' and 'letters to gail' vol2 and even the vol1 if you have them.

The Prince must be above these secret laws of this world. These laws are very subtle for they seek out the weakness in every man so as to destroy him.
. That individual who is greedy for riches is allowed to amass them; then possession of those riches becomes the sword that strike him down. With millions at his command, he is often placed in a position where no sum of money can help him. A man, thus, must face his own weakness and conquer it or be conquered by it. If the latter, then he has been found wanting. Those who are not defeated rise from the depths to soar again, to rebuild life anew, and here they have the help of the Sugmad.
. One of Newton's laws of motion in physics states that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. For every flow of energy there is, and must be, a counterflow. This is what we call cause and effect.

None of us differ as beings in this universe in the amount of power we possess-our only difference is the amount of power we realize we have, and use. Until man realizes this and masters himself he cannot hope to exert influence beyond himself. Unfoldment can be swift or slow; it depends upon the realization of the power within, and this takes us back to the point made on a previous page. That is, Spirit can give us only what we take. This is the way of the ECK power in this universe, and there is no other way. It depends upon our consciousness to act in this manner, not by an act of violence or strong determination of the will.
. Realization in the consciousness is very necessary; we must know that it is there before it appears to us.
. Does this seem too simple? In truth, it is simple. There is no complexity in it at all. It is being certain of receiving. The act of knowing that it is there is the greatest and most important thing in the world. For this is how awareness is brought about.

The Supreme Consciousness will appear to anyone, provided the individual furnishes the state of consciousness through which it can appear. Therefore, whatever anyone is receiving or lacking in the expression of his consciousness is his own responsibility. It is the result of his own consciousness. Until you can understand this, you can never have true freedom and liberation from this world.
Until you can understand that nothing can happen to you, nothing can ever come to you or be kept away from you, except in accordance with the state of your consciousness, you do not have the key to life.

There are a great number of people who love to show what they know. They will invariably talk to you, expressing their opinions and beliefs about God; telling you how much they can help you, even advertising in the press to this effect. Always be skeptical - question everything and everyone. It might be but a dishonest effort on their part to make themselves a living - nothing more. What they know comes a great deal from books with little experience of learning from other teachers, and seldom, if ever, from what God gave them directly. A person who is truly knowledgeable will rarely do a great deal of talking on any subject.
. There is no point in resisting these false masters; simply accept them as they are and leave them alone.

Gradually, over a number of years, people slowly wake from their spiritual sleep. As they do, they get a yearning. A yearning for something they can't quite put their finger on. They have desire for knowledge first. Behind that they find there is a yearning for understanding, then a yearning for truth.
. If they take it far enough, they'll realize that behind all their yearning is the yearning for love all this time, and these other things were just bringing them closer and closer to God's love.
. This is what we try to help people discover on their own through the teachings of ECK. I won't give someone a spiritual experience that he or she is not ready for. I can, but why? It's like giving a driver's license to a four-year-old child. You wouldn't tell a small child, "You're going to learn how to drive sometime, so here you go. Save you a couple years. Have a good time." Of course, you wouldn't do that.
. A true Master will never give someone a passport to a higher state of consciousness until that person is ready for it. A Master won't do this, anymore than a parent or state government would give a driver's license to a four-year-old child. Because the child would do a lot of damage.

Wherever there is life there is this ECK force existing, for life in itself is immortal and indestructible; it cannot change. Life in the abstract is always the same whether or not it is expressed outwardly. When we do not see the manifestation of life we say it is dead; but life force or God does not change, nor die. People have the idea that God's love is sweet, gentle, and kind. But sometimes God's love needs to shake the sleeping Soul and awaken It because this is the lifetime that Soul has chosen to awaken to truth. And Soul is often in a very deep sleep. . What Is Soul Travel?

. In the simplest terms, Soul Travel is an individual moving closer to the heart of God. This movement takes a variety of forms.
. Soul Travel is, for the most part, a tool for use in the worlds below the Soul Plane, first of the true spiritual worlds. It takes one through the Astral, Causal, Mental, and Etheric Planes. As a whole, these are the planes of time and space. Soul Travel occurs in two general ways. One form is the sensation of fast movement of the Soul body through the planes of time and space. In reality, though, is such movement possible?
. You see, Soul exists on all planes, so what feels like movement, or travel, is simply Soul coming into an agreement with fixed states and conditions that already exist in some world of time and space.
. If you can imagine a scene, then you can be there this instant in the Soul body. That is the Imaginative technique. It may feel as though you are hurtling through space at a breakneck speed, like a rocket, and zooming on a journey to the outer space. In fact, though, Soul (you) is motionless. It is shifting Its attention to some higher state. That shifting of attention results in a feeling of fast motion to the material senses.
. Soul Travel begins with a Spiritual Exercise of ECK in a physical setting.
. A contemplative may hear a rushing sound, like a wailing wind in a tunnel, along with a sensation of incredible speed. But as explained, Soul doesn't move; Soul is. Time and space adjust to Soul's state of consciousness, and it is this adjustment of time and space that renders an illusion of movement or breathtaking speed. A seeming, rapid change of location is one aspect of Soul Travel that may prove to be a daunting obstacle for the timid. These people fear going beyond themselves.
. Soul Travel is, therefore, for the bold and courageous in spirit. But remember, since one doesn't in fact travel anywhere, it's impossible to get lost.
. Keep that principle in mind during a spiritual exercise. It will lend the confidence to open your heart to love and so delight in any enlightenment that finds you.
. Another form of Soul Travel is the expansion of consciousness. This aspect is the true state of personal revelation or enlightenment that we aspire to in ECK. It visits both the timid and the bold, and is a gentler, less robust version of movement in consciousness. Most people experience this sort of gradual shifting of awareness.
. Love and wonder define Soul Travel the best.

A shift in consciousness to a new plane flits in like a soft, golden kiss of God. Then, these lucky Souls know they've had the best of good fortune and have touched the hem of divine love. Rather, it has brushed them.
. Soul Travel, as stated, may also be of a more dramatic sort. In this case, an individual transcends the human body and tastes the love and freedom that are a birthright. He rises into the other worlds. Each experience fits him, because each is a reflection of his spiritual state.

There is no mystery about truth, but the acquisition and transmission of true knowledge demands both great labor and great effort of him who receives.
. Those who want truth must make the initial effort to find the source of knowledge and to approach it, taking advantage of the help and indications which are given to all, but which people as a rule do not want to see or recognize. Knowledge cannot come to you without effort on your part.
. Strangely, most persons feel that truth can be given them without much effort. However, this is a wrong attitude for great knowledge is not easy to gather to one's self. For example, it takes five to ten years to grasp the principles of medicine, and often the same or longer for the study of painting, writing or music.
. Many times an individual's independent effort will attain him nothing. It is usually gained through those who already possess it. One should learn from those who know.

Most of the nonessentials of divine wisdom were invented or were openly promoted when Truth was forced to go underground due to persecution by the Church and state. These two groups did not wish for men to learn lest they observe ways and means of bettering their downtrodden condition and try to overthrow the established orders. The saviours did not have the worldwide means of instantaneous communication which we have today, and could not reach enough people to make their teachings effective enough to have lasting strength except for a few, like Christ and Buddha. So what we got as holy scriptures was little more than a pale reflection of truth. In many cases, it makes me wonder what is actually hidden in the hearts of many who know, but who will not tell the truth to the masses of people. It has been every man for himself, and much truth had been hidden behind symbolism in the writings of the Magi and wise men of the ages. A lot of guesswork by self-styled savants has been born and written for the public. Students of truth have been compelled to seek truth the best way possible, through records left, through researching among those living who have claimed to know and whose words have had to be tested. A lot of unsound guesswork has been made. Today all seekers have inherited the job of sifting out the useless and trying to rediscover what has been hidden or lost. It is a gargantuan task, and there are few authentic teachers and centers among the thousands of utterly useless promulgators of shallow doctrine.
. The experiences of the seekers lead them into realizing that something is beyond the sweetness and light of the leaders they may have been following. Mainly, this comes about for the simple reason that what they have been hearing and reading did not have agreement. Contradictions started them looking deeper into the subject and into their own experiences to find truth.Many learned that they couldn't share their newly hard-won knowledge because of the possible dangerous aspects of spreading truth.
. Once the individual becomes emancipated from the convention of society he can easily become a criminal in the eyes of that society. Few really want change, peculiar enough. Few understand that truth reveals itself only to those who seek it and love it. The whole purpose of spiritual training is, therefore, the absolute union with the Divine Self.
. Buddha said, "The summit of Reality can only be realized within oneself." The principal source of human life comes from within and from the depth of the Soul. The jewels of the ECK wisdom are seldom strewn along the highway for people, but are left to the individual to find and know. The masses are never lifted to the position of understanding, nor have the religionists ever wanted them to be. It would mean lost trade for the pseudo mystics.
. Yet many true seekers have found something. Hazrat Inayat Khan gave me a clue in his writings, "He who depends on his eyes for sight and, his ears for hearing and his mouth for speech, is still dead.

. A joke in Reader's Digest illustrates the road to self-knowledge and truth:

"Right decisions."

. In ECK, the course is a straight one, with definite guidelines. These include the Master, the Sound Current (Holy Spirit), and the Spiritual Exercises of ECK. They are key to entering the high worlds of God. Critics may try to discredit our path, but time and experience shall teach them better too.

I also want to say that the belief in satan or devil is very wrong because there is no such thing there is only one power and that is God the belief in satan or devil or witch craft and all that nonsense is to say that God has rivals but the truth is that God is evil God does all the evil and also all the good see Amos 3:6 Isaiah 45:7 Deuteronomy 32:39 these are but a few that will give you and idea God is responsible for everything good bad or indifferent

As you unfold spiritually, you also unfold power - spiritual power - along with spiritual love. As this spiritual power comes to you, along with it comes the understanding of spiritual law that you cannot misuse this power at any time. Some people think, I like Eckankar. Now maybe I can develop my healing powers and go out and heal people. I've always wanted to be a healer. I'll just go heal people. But sometimes healing people when they haven't learned the spiritual lesson of their illness is interfering in their state of consciousness.
. This is why my role, in this mission, this time, is not to do things for people they should learn how to do for themselves.
. I try to help people find their own way to a health practitioner to overcome an illness. I try to help people go into contemplation and find out about their future themselves, by studying the ECK-Vidya, which is the ancient science of prophecy. Do this for yourself.
. My role is to help people who are ready for Mastership, not children who want to have things done for them. I help people who are striving to become self-sufficient and develop the very high spiritual state of being able to survive under any and all conditions. This includes such things as health and even wealth.

Well you are right on your opinion, but opinion on its own is useless till you realize this 'truth' you talked about to be a part of you...ie you in It and It in you...this is not to mean mere intellectual experience...you must be told!. Its beyond reading a physical book about Truth and the mental understanding that may follow. There is another way to grasp truth...someone said "its not taught but caught"

You 'may' be right when you said "there is only one power and that is God" but if you factor in another "truth" you left aside: 'Relativity' ...which is simply a fact that Negative cannot exist without Positive, light without darkness...etc if you factor in this principle of relativity, you may perhaps find another truth...that this "one power" you talked about might have turned into 'two powers' else one 'power line' may not function properly relative to a 'medium' as the case is in Physics for instance. Granted the power might be from one source, how do you deal with the question of duality in all things? Here is another illustration:

There is only one sun, when the sun is up for the man in isreal while while his counterpart in Washington sleeps at night, would you say its Day for the washington man simply the one true sun is up?...l say this in-case...

...the principle of relativity deals with a lot of issues and one finds it to answer a lot of illogical assertions and theories about life. Now lets reduce this 'satan', 'devil', and all evil to the word 'problem'...cos obviously that's the beginning and ending of their(Satan etc) efforts.

Relatively speaking for instance, someone troubled by 'Mr Trouble'(Satan) will either defeat or be defeated by it. The former becomes stronger and more brave...to the former, Satan then was a means--an elixir--to spur him to success. So in that relation, Satan can only be 'judged' relatively...just like the wise thought about a half filled glass: whether its half filled or half empty. That being said, is satan/God necessarily evil or good? Another facet of Good is that those who have all 'good', how do they behave, how strong are they in life, and how is their emotions. Is good really good and bad really bad? Is it OK to view things as all good and all bad? Ultimately would you still insist belief or unbelief in satan/God etc is necessarily "nonsense"? Remember we are in the world but not of it, the bolded plays a very major role on what things are or not...it tool of operation is Relativity.

. From heaven we came, and to heaven we do return. There is no doubt we will gather experiences. That goes with the turf. The question is, how much will we gain from them?
. Do we have more understanding? How about more compassion or love?
. No matter, for we get sent back here until we get our lessons right. There is no hurry. It is up to us to decide how quickly we wish to progress. Heaven certainly does not care. We each determine our own timetable. That is the whole of it, in spite of what other religions teach.
