Officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) stormed the residence of the immediate past governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yarion, on Sunday, August 4, 2019 in connection to the current probe of his tenure. Residents of the former governor’s brother Jafaru as well as that of his friend Sha’aya Mafara were not spared as the team searched them too. The commission found no fewer than 21 exotic cars in the premises of the past governor who was also the Nigerian Governor’s Forum chairman until his tenure came to an end on May 29, 2019. EFCC operatives at the premises It is to be recalled that Yari has been under the watch of the EFCC right from 2017, but they could not act because he was covered by the immunity enjoyed by office holders. Confirming the incident, Mr Tony Orilade, Acting Head of Media and Publicity, said that officials of the commission were at the past governor’s residence in connection to an ongoing investigation, but declined giving information about the investigation. He said: “At the appropriate time, when the investigation is ripe, we shall proceed to prosecution and we shall carry the media along.” Source: https://naijauto.com/market-news/efcc-storms-abdulaziz-yarions-residence-4554
