Prince Tony Momoh, a former Minister of Information on Wednesday said anyone calling for a revolution in Nigeria should be confronted and dealt with by the federal government.

Speaking in a chat with Daily Independent, Momoh said while the constitution guarantees freedom of speech, using a strong word as revolution and inciting the people to topple a democratically elected government should not be condoned.

Reacting to the arrest of Omoyele Sowore, the convener of the Revolution Now protest, Momoh said anyone calling for a revolution is looking for trouble and should be dealt with in accordance with the laws of the land.


When you say revolution, it’s not child’s play especially when Omoyele Sowore who is coordinating it and calling for revolution is being quoted as saying what happened Egypt and Tunisia will be a child’s play compared to what will happen in Nigeria”.

“I am even surprised that some people will say there is freedom of association. There is nothing wrong with freedom of association. It is guaranteed”.

“But when you say ‘revolution’, you are not joking anymore. And any government that is sensible should stand up and confront those who want a revolution”.

“How can you be calling for a revolution and say a democratically elected government should be toppled? Anybody saying that is looking for trouble and should be confronted”.

If Toney Momoh can talk like this then Nigeria is finished. These are the people who should have come out to say how things are and how they ought to be but look at him talking like a child in primary 1B. It is a pity.

How can some one wake up and call for revolution; that an elected government should be over thrown,and yet people still support him?
It's just crazy.
What would have happened if Sowore had succeeded and the entire nation degenerated into chaos,with criminals taking advantage of the situation to unleash mayhem to innocent citizens, killings and looting everywhere?

Then again you'd be probably happy and blame the government yet again.

I read a tweet from Reno Omokri, on how Jonathan's mother suffered great loss from her children dying at early age of their birth except Jonathan and one other child making it two to have survived. On one occasion, during the occupy Nigeria protest, Jonathan's mother saw a picture of his son and a coffin with an inscription of RIP. The mother suffered a severe shock and Jonathan was quickly contacted about it. Obviously, the mother may have believed that his son is dead.
Jonathan, didn't stop the protest even at the expense of his mother's health, neither did he arrest the organizers of it. Would Buhari have done that? I doubt.
