A member of the House of Representatives, Abdulmumin Jibrin, has joined the conversation on the trending picture of President Muhammadu Buhari using a toothpick.

Mr Jibrin, on Wednesday, posted a picture of former US President Barack Obama with his legs on a desk while he was at the White House, Igbere TV reports.

“Presidents are human like every one of us..they work and stay professional,” the former Director-General of Femi Gbajabiamila Campaign Organisation began.

“Yet, they joke, laugh, cry, drop their legs on office table like Obama below, eat and pick their tooth like PMB..Absolutely nothing wrong with pictures showing their human side! Let’s focus on their work!”

Since one of Buhari’s social media aides posted the picture on Twitter, Nigerians have been attacking the President, saying he has been busy feeding well in the midst of hunger and poverty in the country.

These people need to understand that as president, Buhari is a public figure accountable to all Nigerians and so everything he does is a subject of interest, even speculation. He's not some special being to be insulated and deified!
