Edo State Government has dissolved the 18 local government councils in the state; and has also frozen their accounts until further notice.

Pally Iriase, the Secretary to the State Government, stated that, "I am directed to inform the general public that, in accordance with the provisions of the Local Government Law 2000 as amended, the Governor, Mr Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, has dissolved the 18 Local Government Councils in Edo State. Following the dissolution, the former Chairmen of the various Local Government Councils are hereby directed to handover to the Heads of Local Government Administration in the respective Local Government Areas immediately. Furthermore, the Bank accounts of the Local Government Councils are hereby frozen until further notice."

Why

Yes the man ADAMS have asked the council chairmen/chairperson to go! Actually their 3-years has ended, so no third term agenda! However, this has been long over due. Councils in Edo state are one of the worst in the country. They barely have anything to offer and seeing that Edo State is largely undeveloped, the massive looting of the public purse by the councils have further worsen the situation. Take for example, despite the huge amount of money ADAMS govt has spent beautifying the ring road , OREDO council could not employ decent hands to keep the place continually clean like what most councils do in Lagos in conjuction with the state govt.

ANYWAY, they were the left over or shall I call them crumbs that fell off the rotten dinner table of the rogue PDP govt.
