Dr Bashir Yankuzo, the Chief Imam of Federal University of Technology, Minna, on Friday urged Muslims to end the 1440 AH Islamic Calendar and begin the 1441 AH Islamic Year with fervant prayers for Allah’s intervention in the socio-economic and political affairs of the country.
Yankuzo, who made the call in his Juma’at sermon in Minna, also urged them to fast and pray for the nation’s leaders to ensure good democratic governance.

” There is need for sober reflection and for us to review what has happened to us as individuals and to our community and thoroughly access our present situations and conditions and also prepare for periods ahead.

” We have witnessed and are still witnessing problems of kidnapping, cattle rustling, militancy and unemployment.

” In all what has happened we need to review our roles and see where to adjust or improve and beg Allah for forgiveness,” he said.

The chief imam also condemned the recent demolishing of Mosque in Rivers
