Do you know that the colonial Nigerian police force were not allowed to use guns but only sticks to enforce the law?

That is why they got the name "olópàá" from the Yoruba people which translates to "A person with a stick"

same thing in the North a police man is called "dansanda" direct translation mean "son of the stick". And till today a policeman is called dansanda. A policewoman is called yarsanda meaning daughter of the stick. Policemen that is plural form are called yansanda

i think it is better if our policemen don't carry weapons as it is in the uk and japan; but then that would mean the government would have to find a way to stem the proliferation of weapons.

Since they don't use batons anymore but are synonymous with bribes, is it safe to call them 'egunje' now?

I haven't been to India before, but from their movies I can deduce that we are in the same boat
