Zamfara: Matawalle Lays Foundation For N8.631 Billion RUGA Project by jarawa: 7:53pm On Sep 04, 2019
Governor Bello Muhammad Matawalle of Zamfara state on Wednesday laid the foundation for N8.631 billion RUGA project at Rinji Sakkida forest in Maradun local government area of the state. Speaking during the ground breaking foundation laying ceremony of the project governor Matawalle said RUGA project was aimed at transforming the way of life of Fulani community to be in tune with modern realities.

“Over the years, one of the thorny issues in the social life of our people is that of the perennial clashes between the communities of farmers and cattle herders. The primary issue at stake has always been that of access to grazing land, watering points, and cattle routes, which often clash with the interest of farmers for access to land for crop production.

“As we have seen in recent times, these conflicts have taken an uglier dimension such that we have never seen before.

In modern times, efforts are being made all over the world to transform system of cattle rearing and production from nomadism to sedentary” “It is, therefore, clear that our decision to embark upon RUGA project is tied to the broader issue of security, ensuring harmonious coexistence, and solidarity among our people, especially the farmers and herders,” he said. Matawalle said those were the essential ingredients for the development of any society adding that the state has had a bitter experience of years of banditry and other crimes which were rooted in farmer-herder conflict.

He said the three pilot RUGA settlements were to be constructed in each of the three senatorial zones and that each of the settlements would be stocked with state of the art facilities covering 100 hectares of land, which would make the environment lively for the community and enhance cattle production. The facilities include: veterinary clinics, cattle ranches, 210 housing units of three and two-bedroom flats, primary school of 12 classrooms and secondary school.

Other facilities include Islamiyya school, primary health centre of 30 beds, earth dam, cattle cottage, grazing yard and modern abattoir among others

Any state that wants to participate in RUGA should go ahead,
Our stance @ is that no state should be forced to Participate in RUGA and furthermore, no state should grumble or beef (no puns intended) when they see the profit and returns the participating states are making monthly and annually.
As 97% of Nigerians eat beef on a daily basis.....argue with your oesophagus! cheesy

END OF DISCUSSION!

Easy Peasy!!
No fight, No Quarrels!!!

We Rise!

Sense will not kill you my brother.

Just take a look at the facilities and tell me how any local community and economy will not develop from it.

These wailers are the same jokers that were chastising the Fulanis for still practicing outdated methods, and crying about cows on runways. Now that the governor is literally making concrete efforts to modernize their methods and transform them from nomadic to sedentary farmers, they are still crying their eyes out.

As e dey pain them, e dey sweet us beef stakeholders jare cheesy grin cool
God bless you sir.
It is always good and refreshing to know that we still have reasonable people like you on this forum.
With people like you our country's future is secure.
Hugs and kiss!
Cheers!
Okoroawusa:
In the near future we, igbos, will be submitting tenders for supply of materials in RUGA settlements in the north... Businessmen will take advantage to make money while Igbos will grumble off n on line...

THAT'S HOW WE ROLL...

... Let's start keeping our money together,I see us dominating this business in the near future..;90% of Nigerians eat cow meat everyday
Yes o brotherly.
You are so in our mind, you know what we are thinking already.
We can both see the future.
The positive minds will be progressing while wailers, Aka, Children of hate and perdition will keep weeping and losing.
God bless you sir.
God bless Nigeria.

Good move,
watch some stupid southerern Dunce condemn these economically viable move like its any of their business, just the other time a Governor reduced government possible estimated spending by 80% and claimed to up its education budget to 10%, 10% of what has been reduced by 80% amounts to less than 4% of previous spending, yet fools would not let us rest...

Last last the 8bn cost of the project would be transfered on every cattle sold to southerners, so you educated prickss would pay for it with your ties and suites

you dont want Fulani on your land, but when southafricans also rejected you on their land it becomes a national problem... bunch of hypocrites

Good luck to them. For those commenting above, education is clearly not their priority unfortunately.

Good for them.

As long as they keep it in the North, it is none of Southerners business. The idea has been rejected wholeheartedly by us down south, so whatever it is they wanna do with the Ruga project, they should, except of course we are now clamoring for the establishment of the same settlements down here.

That shouldn't be our problem. They've decided to keep the ruga madness to themselves just as we desired and even protested for. Should we still be complaining? What is it we want?

Naturally most of it from there, yes.
When the southerners become wise they will face the common enemy.

If it stops their attacks on farmers then it's worth it. Also to the people bringing up education, if the Fulani are settled in one place rather than running all over the country it will be far easier to educate them.

How much of their own money goes into the federation account for them to spend these billion if not from the south
