The governor of Kogi Stae Alh Yaha Adoza Bello has come under serious pressures from workers in the state to pay up their outstanding salaries that have piled up for 39 months.

The workers involved number about 7000 and they claim that they stopped receiving their salaries 39 months ago.

The crisis between teachers and the Kogi State government began 39 months ago when the state government began a screening exercise to rid the civil service of ghost workers who he believes are cheating the state government at a time when revenue was at an all-time low and the state was indebted.

The exercise was received as a welcome development until some affected workers who were sacked claimed that they were wrongly screened out. Is resulted in a series of screening and rescreening until it became an emergency.
