Ugwuanyi Swears In Commissioners, Advisers, Retains Uzor As Chief Of Staff by Tabithatim: 5:59pm On Sep 25, 2019
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State, on Wednesday, swore in Commissioners and Special Advisers who will assist him to run the affairs of the state.

Swearing in the Commissioners and Advisers, Gov. Ugwuanyi said that performance will be key and periodically benchmarked as a basis to remain in office.

The governor who pointed out that his administration will not tolerate any corrupt practice, emphasized that the new appointees’ loyalty as public officers should be to God and the state.

He added that they “must at all times be seen to pursue honesty, transparency, accountability, equity, justice, fairness and unalloyed commitment to your duty in the course of your service to this state”.

Gov. Ugwuanyi, who earlier in the day swore in Dr. Festus Uzor as his Chief of Staff, announced Mr. Chuks Ugwoke as his Chief Press Secretary, disclosing that “the Deputy Chief of Staff, Office of the Deputy Governor will be appointed in due course and all other appointments will follow suit.

The governor stated that “every Public Officer on this journey must wear his/her seat belt”, stressing that “our administration will be on fast track to deliver the public good to Ndi Enugu in the remaining three years, eight months and five days of this tenure”.

He therefore, informed the Commissioners and Advisers of the 3-day Policy retreat from September 26 to 28, which will take them through the government’s policy direction. He also stated that the appointees are expected to digest the sectoral recommendations applicable to their respective Ministries to keep them properly focused on the delivery of their ministerial mandate.

Gov. Ugwuanyi further disclosed that the work and recommendations of the 12 sectoral ad-hoc committees comprising highly experienced Technocrats, Professionals, the Academia, etc, culminated in his administration’s new strategic architecture with cross-cutting and sector-specific plans for advancement of good governance and optimization of service delivery in the state.

“This is intended to facilitate the fulfillment of our campaign promises and social contract with Ndi Enugu”, the governor said.

Congratulating them on their appointments which he said were based on their “individual competencies and capacities”, Gov. Ugwuanyi, who reiterated his administration’s commitment to participatory democracy, emphasized that “you must have walked a tight rope of constituency consensus building around your choices given the inclusive and participatory approach adopted in your appointment”.

According to him, “I invite you to recall that our re-election victory was a referendum on our first term performance. We enjoyed electoral support that is unprecedented in recent history, scoring 95.54 percent of total votes cast in the 2019 gubernatorial elections in Enugu State. While this enriched our political and leadership credentials, it also put a burden of performance on us, for to whom much is given, much is also expected”.

The newly sworn in Commissioners were Chief Miletus Ezugworie Eze; Engr. Greg Nnaji; Hon. Barr. Chijioke Edeoga; Barr. Chidi Aroh; Prince Emeka Mamah; Mr. Vitus Okechi; Mr. Solomon Izuchukwu Onah; Hon. Princess Peace Nnaji; Dr. Charles O. C. Egumgbe; Rt. Hon. Mathias Ekweremadu (Jnr.); Hon. Uchechukwu Ogbonna; Mrs. Mabel Chinwe Agbo; Mrs. Adaonah Kene-Uyanwune; Prof. Uchenna Eze; Barr. Peter Okonkwo; Mr. Obi Carl kama; Mr. Ugonna Ibe; Dr. Surv. Victor Chukwuemeka Nnam and Prof. Anthony Ugochukwu.

The Special Advisers include, Mrs. Olangwa N. Ezekwu; Mr. Uwakwe Ukuta Azikiwe; Mr. Uchenna Emmanuel Ogbodo; Dr. Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh, Esq; Engr. Mrs. Maryrose Obiageli Abba; Barr. Stephen Oluchukwu Oruruo and Barr. Paschal Okechukwu Ukwuani.

*See the video of President Buhari answering a question at the UN general Assembly that has got Nigerians talking*

Nigerians are reacting to a video posted on Twitter by Special Assistant to President Buhari on Digital and New Media, Tolu Ogunlesi, showing President Buhari wrongly answering a question about Nigerian youths at the ongoing 74th United Nations General Assembly.

The one person I can vouch for in this list would be Prof Anthony Ugochukwu. He turned around a moribund ESUT college of Medicine as Provost and I hope the gov and his people will give him the free hand to run the state mins of health and therefore transform same.

Expect nothing spectacular from all those
over-fed and over-recycled cronyists.
Ugwuanyi has just shown that he has not a mind of his own.
Most of those appointees are not more than spoilt political office loafers; substandard human beings who cannot bear to survive outside politics. They are men and women with very "long throat" for positions and appointments, just about any and every position as long as it brings them to the corridors of power!

Just imagine someone like Emeka Mama, the serial commissioner, who should really wear that as title.
Only a fool will expect these self-serving people to do extraordinary things.
Their appointment is never because of any known demonstration of outstanding competence anywhere.
It is more of compensation and reward for political patronage
all geared towards building a cult-like followership around the person of their master Gburugburu in the projection that he will need to reap back their support for his political advancement beyond 2023 when his tenure as governor expires.

I keep telling whoever cares to listen that Nigeria is not and will never become a country!
These useless politicians see governance as business transaction entered into for accumulation of profit
for self, friends and loyalists.
It is hardly about the people.
Scarcely does the real intent of governance form
the prime-moving factor guiding the actions
of those in government.
All their actions always point to one thing, namely: love of office and gains of office.
It is never about love of the people, and love of service to the people.
If it were not so, then people like Emeka Mama, the Nnajis and the Abbas, and all those other office crawlers who have time and again proven to be clueless would never have got another chance to give further ventilation to their cluelessness.
In short, if we were not holed up in this damned and decaying system, then substandard human beings like Gburugburu, Buhari and their likes should never have got a chance to appropriate political power in the first place.
