No fewer than Four people died in a bloody clash between suspected political thugs in kabba, kabba bunu local government over the N25,000 released to them by the Kogi State Speaker, Kolawole Matthew. The Spotlight News reports that the incident occurred two days after the rally held at kabba on Tuesday evening.

Spotlight News reports that the campaign train, led by Rt. (Hon) Kolawole Matthew, commenced with a road show in kabba through Kabba Central market road. It was a political carnival organised for Governor Yahaya Bello reelection.

Trouble, however, started on Tuesday after the rally in Kajola area of kabba as the political thugs hired for the rally engaged in a bloody clash over the N25,000 released to them by the speaker which left four dead.

It was reported that two out of the four people killed were innocent residents, identified as Ojo Ibinola and Peddy, stabbed to death.

Eyewitnesses told Spotlight News that some of the thugs hired by the Speaker had threatened the other group demand their own share of the N25,000, but were blocked by another thugs.

This, witnesses said, resulted in heated arguments which later led to the bloody confrontation. The incident had since resulted in counter-allegations and reactions from political parties and residents of kabba.

While the APC accused cultists of being behind the mayhem, the Community leaders asked APC to look inwards for the perpetrators. Guns and cutlasses were freely displayed by thugs alleged to have been arranged and sponsored by the APC to during the political rally.

We hereby charge security agencies to investigate and unravel the killers of the deceased.

Some opposition party members who spoke to Spotlight News described the incident as very pathetic, saying the APC should investigate themselves on the mayhem. They said that several other opposition parties in the state had visited the community to campaign without violence or bloodshed.

The police DPO for Kabba Police Station, did not respond to calls at the time of filing this report.
