A former spokesman of late President Umaru Yar’Adua, Olusegun Adeniyi, has said that the convener of #RevolutionNow protest, Omoyele Sowore, predicted that the Department of State Service (DSS) would not obey the court order for his release.

Justice Taiwo Taiwo of a Federal High Court in Abuja had on Tuesday ordered that Mr Sowore should be released from DSS custody immediately and handed over to his lawyer, Femi Falana, who is to produce him for arraignment whenever he is required, Igbere TV reports.


The judge also ruled that Sowore should deposit his passport and other travel documents to guarantee his availability for trial.

Mr Falana has, however, been unable to secure Sowore’s release despite the publisher of Sahara Reporters meeting his bail conditions on Wednesday.

In a tweet late Friday, Mr Adeniyi said that when he visited Sowore a fortnight ago, the publisher predicted he would not be allowed to return home.

“That Sowore is still in detention more than 24 hours after his bail conditions were perfected is a real shame and a serious affront on the rule of law. I hope the authorities will act quickly on the court order. I visited Sowore two weeks ago and sadly, he predicted this scenario,” he said.

Sowore has been in DSS custody since August 3 for calling for “revolution” through protest scheduled for September 5.

The DSS had on Friday refused to grant access to a bailiff of the Federal High Court in Abuja on a mission to issue fresh service of the court order for Sowore’s release.
