Lol what are you saying? Trademark names are used in songs all the time.
Also if Shoprite had a problem with the song all they had to do was tell him they don't want the song and issue a cease and desist order through a court of competent jurisdiction. They didn't have to steal the song he submitted to them.

Until you are sure those are the terms used and you also have to determine the manner it was used by Shoprite and the content of his message while submitting the said jingle. It could be they made a repost trying to gain him audience .

That is where the guy is smarter than you. He was smart and creative enough to produce a jingle a multinational organisation thought was worth stealing and u are there in your bedroom insulting his strategy for seeking redress.

The guy is thinking way ahead of you. He knows that amount will likely make them seek to settle out of court where he can dictate the terms of the payment. The guy probably has involved smart lawyers and you are here throwing a fit.

He didn't do a jingle for self commercialisation but rather more like a customized jingle for shoprite. He gave it only to them so it's either they reject or accept. Instead of them accepting mutually and in black and white they started using it to sell their market which is wrong.
He has a case.

We need to establish how they actually used his song or rather jingle without permission or agreement. If this is established then shoprite has sm explaining to do.
