Thank You Sir. General Yakubu "Jack" Dan-Yumma Gowon (born 19 October 1934) is the former head of state (Head of the Federal Military Government) of Nigeria from 1966 to 1975. He ruled during the deadly Nigerian Civil War, which caused the death of almost 3 million people, most which were civilians. He took power after one military coup d'état and was overthrown in another. But anytime IPOB gets hots, he comes out to make media statements about how the unity of Nigeria is not negotiable. He cares more about what the Igbos choose to do with their destiny than the impending disaster the destiny of his own people is turning out to become. Jack was a fine soldier. if not for him, the first coup would have succeeded. He mobilized troops to squash the coup while Ironsi was busy in the office sipping tea and plotting on how to take power.
