Dangote Refinery today would have suffered near similar fate if not for the no-nonsense approach Fashola adopted as Lagos State governor. The community people started disturbing Dangote project workers. Fashola went there in person, spoke in Yoruba and told them that he's handing over Dangote and his entire team to the leaders of the community, that they must be protected, that nothing must happen or slow down their work. Right in the full glare of the Media, He further threatened that if disturbance occurs, they will see the other side of him.

The community people arrested for the murder of Mr. Disu, Managing Director of FTZ are ruthlessly being dealt with today...

This is what happens in a country that is grossly underpoliced.

Las las d problem of naija na nigerians
Hypothetically remove 160 million Nigerians living in Nigeria and replace them with 320 million Americans, come back to Nigeria in 10 years and you will be shocked to see that the waters of ajegunle are actually tourist attractions where people can actually live on, and Onitsha and Aba can actually look as the same as Los Angeles. Still hypothetically Remove 320 million Americans living in the United States and replace them with 160 million Nigerians, come back to the US in 10 years and u will marvel at the infrastructural decadence and New York reduced to a dirty and raucous city like Lagos with traders and touts hawking and fighting respectively on the once beautiful streets of New York. You'd never ever want to step foot on a country called the United States again. The problem of Nigeria is not the government, it's deep rooted in the blood running thru the veins of Nigerians angryangry

I know this lies & slandering will come up as long as it concerns development in the SE/SS region. What is happening to the Niger bridge is what is also happening to the Ogoni clean-up & the East West road etc. But when it concerns taking oil from the Niger delta by the parasitic regions, they will deploy all the military apparatus & might to destroy any uprising or dissenting voice. e.g Ken saro wiwa.

Shut up your mouth.. this about SE and not SS .. SS kill you there

What is typical is to ask compensation for the land govt wants to acquire for a project.

Next, the labour for the job will be localized, in other words direct hires in the communities the project is located or passes through.

The third angle is contract for logistics and the supply chain. This will also be allocated to local indigenes.

What people in other regions dislike is when Yoruba is given contract in Jos for a local work content. When Ibo is given contract for local work content in Lagos. When Hausa wins contract bid for a local project in Onitsha.

So these are your typical grievances and protests.

Yoruba never stop work on a construction site simply because the money is not shared. Dont mix it up.

We focus on the end goal and the benefit of the infrastructure to our communities.

The report here is not typical because the contractors and labour is all local and indigeneous. They are just not content that 2billion naira is going to steel and cement when instead it should be in their hands. They want to direct the project.

In the past that was done. Govt give the project management to the leaders in the area to get the bridge done. The contract was renewed in every Administration since 1970. What happened? No bridge!

Jonathan paid your leaders to build it...they shared the money.

Buhari has refused to give to them and put the project under FG supervision. Its making progress but no money is flowing for sharing and they see bridge will soon be completed. Something has to be done to get share money.... This protest and work stoppage is a sabotage.

Fg must order back to work or sack all of them and go recruit labor and contractors from neighbouring states. - Edo and Kogi.

Read the topic with open mind this time. Most of what they are asking for is not raw cash but some kind of project and promotion for the indigenous peoples

[s][/s]What's this you wrote up there?

Adkins for jobs is one thing, demanding development levy of up to 500million is another.

The igbo have luck, some people will just find away to publicise development levy people and abandon the bridge.

Entitlement or settlement.

When you demand an entitlement "or else" isnt that settlement ?

The demanded entitlement to the tune of 500million for a bridge that will benefit them.

Am I missing something?

Local man remains local
