Maybe they should also focus on the shameful drainage conditions in some high brow regions of the state while they're at it.
They are currently working on it and might even help Abia state to fix their death trapped roads only if the communities in Abia agreed not to demand for compensation of money. They will also help Anambra state with Fire Fighter Trucks.

IgbereTV reports that the Lagos State government is planning to launch the first of several planned intra-city lines by the end of 2020. This is due to the frequent traffic congestion experienced on lagos roads, which leads to loss of time and productivity.

The governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday hinted the plan while speaking at a forum on “Public Private Innovation for Sustainable Cities” organised by the Embassy of France in Lagos, stressing that the state was pushing ahead with the work on the Lagos Metro Rail service to make it happen.

Represented at the occasion by his Deputy, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, he said that, transportation was critical to the success of any urban area and that with its limited land mass, the future of Lagos lay primarily in viable alternative to overdependence on road transportation.

He said: “For this reason, our focus for the medium and long term is water and rail transportation. Fortunately, we have a sizeable mass of water, the Lagos lagoon running across the state. We are ramping up the rollout of public water transport service, while also encouraging the private sector to invest in the sector,” he said.

Also, he said, “As the Chief Executive of one of the fastest growing cities in the world, planning and envisioning the future of this sprawling mass of people occupies a significant portion of my waking moment. It is indeed what I was elected to do. Lagos is an important city for many reasons. It is an economic magnet, not just for Nigerians from across the country but even across all of Africa. It accounts for roughly a fifth of Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product and by itself the GDP of Lagos is larger than that of all but six or seven African countries.”

The French Ambassador to Nigeria, Jerome in his opening remark, spoke of an Africa-France Summit tagged, “La cite des solutions” a trade fair for project leaders across sectors private and public alike, to debate collectively about the future of cities and how to make them habitable, sustainable and proffer solutions and action plans to combat challenges of climate change demographic growth and urbanisation.

Why is Bayelsa state, Delta state missing out of this ambitious projects?

How have oil producing states in the Niger delta region been spending their federal allocations?

States in the Niger delta region are banking on the federal government to build metro line for trains for them. Huh ?

They will continue to DAY DREAM !

Good idea, focus on maximizing use of scarce resources, and finding the best hands to execute state projects, partnership arrangements for top quality, is good, via concession arrangements and such. Public good should be the overriding principle and objective. Lagos can do this, this state has capacity.

it took Lagos 2 weeks to repair the road leading to ojuelegba that's from onipanu,

guess what ?

the road lasted only 2 weeks , and spoil again

much much more than it was before the repair

yesterday I spent 3 good hours there going ojuelegba

coming back again I spent nearly 2 hrs again going palmgrove

who awarded these contracts ?
this scam is everywhere in Nigeria. No solid road maintenances at all in Nigeria.

Lagos doesn't have any business with traffic wahala, I knw u will say what about the population density?
Lagos is one of the states that blessed with water, water transportation alone can solve her problem with serious government. Linking Apapa to Island by functional n effective ferry system will reduce a lot of pressure on Apapa road n will serve a lot of money and power

2nd is effective metro railway system that started during Jakande time n resurrected by Fashola. If Lagos is serious with her over taxes system there is no way they won't have completed that rail.

Always with vision that has never come to reality 2020 is by the corner,

till 2023 the story will still be lingering on,build more link bridges repair more roads

create more alternate route and clear the canals and drainage constructing rail lines is not a bad idea

but do the needful first.... LAGOS IS TOO DIRTY TO BE A CITY.
