The National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC) has announced an Automotive Design Challenge.

The aim of the challenge, which will be an annual event, is to open up opportunities for Nigerian youths to showcase their creative abilities and talents; and support and guide these talents to develop the country’s automotive sector.

According to NADDC Director General, Mr. Jelani Aliyu, “This is the perfect opportunity for those talented Nigerians out there to be part of that dynamic future in the Nigerian automotive and transportation sector”.

Designs that are applicable for this edition of the nationwide Automotive Design Challenge are for mini-taxis and mini tractors.

NADDC is a parastatal of the Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment.

Entries for this challenge, which is for Nigerian youths of ages 18 to 40 years, opens from October 21 to November 21, 2019. Entries for the contest will be through the following online platforms: Website www.naddcdesignchallenge.com, Facebook @ naddc design challenge, twitter @ naddcchallenge and instagram @ naddcdesignchallenge.

Entries for the contest are in two categories: The design of Nigeria Applicable Intra-City Mini Taxi and cost-effective Mini Tractor.

Jelani Aliyu the current DG of NADDC is reputed for being the chief designer of the now famous Chevrolet Volt.

No nation can become economically developed without owning her own indigenous technology, this is a welcome development if well implemented with honesty and transparency
