So why did your prophet borrow from a Jew and didn't pay back?


عن حماد عن بعض أصحابه عن أحدهما في قول الله «لا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلى‏ ما مَتَّعْنا بِهِ أَزْواجاً مِنْهُمْ» قال: إن رسول الله ص نزل به ضيقة [فاستسلف من يهودي‏] «3» فقال اليهودي! و الله ما لمحمد ثاغية و لا راغية فعلى ما أسلفه، فقال رسول الله ص: إني لأمين الله في سمائه و أرضه و لو ائتمنني على شي‏ء لأديته إليك قال: فبعث بدرقة له فرهنها عنده، فنزلت عليه: «وَ لا تَمُدَّنَّ عَيْنَيْكَ إِلى‏ ما مَتَّعْنا بِهِ أَزْواجاً مِنْهُمْ زَهْرَةَ الْحَياةِ الدُّنْيا

A guest received to holy prophet and he asked a Jew for loan. The Jew said: I swear to God that I won't lend you any sheep or camel because there is no guarantee to return. Prophet said: I am the Allah's trusty in the sky and the earth and if you make me a trusty on something, I will take it back to you. Then the holy prophet sent him a shield as a deposit. So this verse has revealed:

"And do not fix your eyes enviously on The bounties We have given to some of Them; these are the ornaments of this Worldly life by which We try or punish Them; but the spiritual sustenance of Your Creator and Nurturer is finer and Lasting"

Lukgaf:
Without doubt, we all depend on one another. We all have one or two debts to service which in turns create a great grief and sadness in to the heart. Therefore, it was recommended to say the following prayer in order to settle one's debts. May Allah settle our debts and provide for our needs.

اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعْوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الهَمِّ وَالْحَزَنِ، والعَجْزِ والكَسَلِ، والبُخْلِ والجُبْنِ، وضَلْعِ الدَّيْنِ وغَلَبَةِ الرِّجَالِ

Allaahumma 'innee 'a'oothu bika minal-hammi walhazani, wal'ajzi walkasali, walbukhli waljubni, wa dhala'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijaali.

O Allah, I seek refuge in You from grief and sadness, from weakness and from laziness, from miserliness and from cowardice, from being overcome by debt and from being overpowered by men

Where you got this from never said he "didn't pay back", so why did you?

Not long after borrowing the money, the "prophet" died after consuming poisoned lamb meat. In other words, he died indebted to a Jew which is ironic considering how much he hated Jews.

Did the Prophet hate Jews? You do know the debt could have been paid by those he left behind, right?

O ye who believe! take not the Jews and the Christians for your friends and protectors: They are but friends and protectors to each other. And he amongst you that turns to them (for friendship) is of them. Verily Allah guideth not a people unjust.
