2023: Osinbajo, Tinubu, Bakare Favoured Presidential Hopefuls by Islie: 10:02am On Nov 05, 2019
An analysis by The Africa Report suggests Nigeria’s 2023 presidential race, especially in the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), will be down to the trio of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Pastor Tunde Bakare and APC national leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. According to the analysis, Tinubu is already picking up endorsements from Nigerians in the corridors of power who wants a bite of the proverbial national cake.

The report also mentioned the recent tactic endorsement of celebrity journalist and columnist, Dele Momodu, who seem to have bought into the Tinubu presidential project. Last month, a campaign office purportedly for the 2023 presidential ambition of Tinubu was opened in Osun state.

The campaign office had pictures of Tinubu as well as his name written all over the place with a massive banner with the inscription: ‘Tinubu 2023 Non-Negotiable.’

Recently, Pastor Bakare threw a brickbat at Tinubu, complaining about the gargantuan levels of corruption since he was governor of Lagos state and installed his protégés. Bakare is said to see himself as a rival to Tinubu.

In a 2015 interview, the fiery preacher said he had been pressured in the run-up to the elections in 2011, by unnamed politicians, to sign a dated resignation letter. The deal was designed to make Bakare go quietly should that prove necessary for Buhari’s handlers.

Osinbajo is also believed to be the victim of a concerted effort to reduce his goodwill and sellability ahead of 2023. “Some whisper that Osinbajo’s erstwhile political benefactor Tinubu is at the centre of that campaign,” the report noted. Osinbajo himself told the press at the latter’s birthday colloquium earlier this year that Tinubu’s political trajectory has just begun.

“The vice-president, Osinbajo, will have the last laugh – they think I’m stupid – except he has violated his oath,” Pastor Bakare said while speaking of the vice president’s political ordeal recently. “The dynamics among the Lagos trio – Osinbajo, Tinubu and Bakare – point to a deal to pass the presidency on to the south-west after Buhari leaves.

“That may cause resentment in the south-south and south-east geopolitical zones which have produced one president each – and are less favoured than the other geopolitical zones.

When Trump took over as the president of united states of America, he started work immediately to change the economy of the country, worked hard to reduce unemployment and lot more to redeem his campaign promises.

But in Nigeria, reverse is the case here.

This same people struggling for presidential office in the country were together with this man we have today as president. They, together with him, promised us heaven and earth and till today, nothing good come out of their administration.

E dey vex me when I see dis failures fighting to keep ruling us without any remorse from their failure in governing. It not even up to a year, they are fighting for who will be next. Failures!

Old men with empty brain!

Please, do not include Tunde Bakare in that list please, He is not in contention at all.

Tinubu and Osinbajo are from the same camp. They will not go against each other - they will resolve their differences if there are any.

Anyway, I strongly believe that Osinbajo will be the next president - for the sake of NIgeria. Tinubu will not contest - trust me on that one. Tinubu is too smart to make it so obvious he is running. However, Tinubu will likely be the king maker this time around too as the position will likely be zoned to the South West.

Tinubu can be president of drug dealers association, he should just forget about running.
Osinbanjo couldn't win his polling unit yet he thinks he can win a presidential election.

That’s future impossible tense.

Imagine he’s acting president now, yet bubu is signing bills from abroad. How can they handover to such a person?

Bakare is not in the mix forget his noise, at least not in APC. Another thing I know for sure is that Osibanjo will not square up against Tinubu and vice versa. Either of them will run with an understanding that the other is not running. Even Fashiola will not vie for the ticket if either Tinubu or Osibanjo is in the mix.

The only person I know that will run regardless of who is running in the south west is Fayemi the governor of Ekiti state.

And if for any reason the party looks the way of the south east, Ogbonnaya Onu stands very tall amongst other APC members in the region to pick the ticket.

Nigeria's media is just useless.

Apart from Premium Times and Sahara Reporters, none of them does investigative journalism.

Nobody is worried that things don't work in the country, including the media.

We just concluded an election a few months ago.

Instead of these nonentities to dwell on development and get elected officials to work, they are busy discussing 2023.

Who cursed the Blackman?

It does not need to cause resentment.

As long as the APC is not interested in campaigning in the SS/SE.

Everybody has a strategy. It is left for PDP to play their own game and replay the 2015 scenario.
